I've got a Borla and commute to work so I'm in the 2500-3500 RPM range a lot, and haven't had any droning. The Borla for me is the perfect combo of rumble but not too far over the top.

Fantastic write up Raptor, bravo. I've had my RB exhaust on for about 8 months now and I'm loving it every day.

Excellent write up.
I didn't realize how similar the tips look.
Benefit of the double walled is they don't gold quite as quickly as the single.
Get that English Custom Hot Environment polish it helps keep the golding under control.
Although I am starting to appreciate the golding it is almost like burnt titanium...

thanks, i will look into the borla. its just that i saw a civic that had a borla and a corvette and both almost had the same tone. you could only tell that it was louder on the corvette. ....... i wonder how similar would my car be? what about the hks? and the hymee? any drone?

Well the RB definitely dose not have a drone and I just drove by a cop this morning with out having to take my foot of the accelerator so as not to attract his attention. Some thing I would never do with the MS. I have also learned you don't really hear the pop during deceleration that I did with the MS. At ideal the RB sounds stock, at ideal the MS has a low rumble.
The RB is what I was looking for but a little more rumble would be nice. I still miss the sound of that MS when I'm in the mode to stomp the accelerator, that system really sounds like it's Hell bent for speed.
I heard the RB gets a little louder with age, can anyone confirm or deny this?

Very nice write-up. Thanks for taking the time to do this.
One question. I really enjoy hearing the rotary sound overlaid on the exhaust note. How does the RB compare to stock in that respect, does it compliment the rotary sound better than the stock unit? I really like the stock unit but sounds a tad nasal and buzzy, but the rotary sound really comes through. I've heard MS and Corksport in real life, and they virtually drown out the rotary engine sound.

This may sound like a stupid question, but it appears to me that the MS doesn't "stick out" as far as the RB does. Do you know what I mean? It looks like the RB sticks out about 4 inches or so past the exhaust shroud whereas stock it about 2 inches. It looks like the MS is about 3, but I saw an RX-8 the other day with a RB and the tips looked so stuck out. I don't know, maybe I'm just so used to the stock one.

Very nice write-up. I believe my RB exhaust has gotten louder with age (not much). I have not experienced the "golding" of the tips as much as others have reported, but when there is some, I have used Eagle One's Never-Dull with good results. I love the RB products even though the exhaust is a bit heavy. If I was worried about weight, I would go on a diet.

Thanks for the write-up. Very helpful. I thought RB was what I was going to get but the last thing I want is to add weight (albeit not a huge amount) to a car that needs more power.
Now if Hymee had a B pipe that would be my choice.

the most important thing to me is a nice sound, without the drone. to me the morning drive has to be quite. dont want to frown every morning, wanna get to work headache free. i had my fun in the s2000 with the jic exhaust. Now i think i got older but at the same time dont want my car to sound like a wimp.
my plan is to buy the RB exhaust and the RB intake. there is no drone from the intake correct? and on the highway you cant tell those two are there unless you push the car right?
and for those who are worried about the weight! what is extra 10 pounds? i dont think it will effect the performance what so ever. thats like carreying a laptop in the trunk! or having tommy drive

RB has a really awesome classy sound to it. I should record mine.
I agree about your weight sentiment.

I'm not a weight **** but it is important to me, 10lbs here, 5lbs here... another 10lbs for something else soon adds up.
I saved myself about 10lbs putting on a RP SuperCAT vs the stock one, but various things such as my car cover in the trunk, a basic set of tools in the trunk pass thru, i'll also be adding a racing beat exhaust this weekend which will push me 10lbs more up.
I'm really considering doing the battery relocation thing to where the windshield washer tank is. (and replacing it with a superlightweight battery)

Well just got done installing Raptor's MS exhuast on my 8. Wow is it mean! inside the car its not bad at all especially with the windows down. It definetly is not as loud as my Jackson racing exhaust on my old miata in the car. BUT, I let my friend drive and do a drive by, holy sheeit im going to **** off some neighbors! it sounds like sex shifting from 1st to 2nd in WOT.

Which exhaust flows the most...very important question for a turbo'ed 8. I'm ultimately with whatever makes me faster.
Right now I have the RB...sounds a bit better than stock, but I could go louder for a higher mass flow rate!

I have no data to back up my opinion but I will give you my logic. I believe the MS would produce the best flow for the simple reason that the path is straight through the muffler. The RB takes a bend at the least and may even terminate the in pipe and have to jump to the out pipe. I just don't know what is going on inside the RB's muffler. Testing is the only way for sure but my money is on the MS. It is also 17 lbs lighter.
