Nice sound dude. I always liked the sound of your car heh. Wtf is hjs cat? But yeah if you want quieter go RB exhaust , not sure if it will be the sound level you want , but i think its the quietest aftermarket exhaust you can get , you can also add more resonators. Or take off your headers .

The 8 with the Exotic Speed catpipe and the Borla that Fluid was talking about was most likely mine. I switched to the Borla from the Agency Power because it was FAR too loud. I have a nice comparison of my Agency Power exhaust with the Agency Power midpipe vs the Agency Power exhaust with the Exotic Speed catpipe over on the Aftermarket Performance Modifications forum. Interesting numbers there (about 5 dBA quieter with the catpipe), so you may consider switching out your midpipe if you don't have a catpipe or a dual-resonated midpipe.

Now that I have the Borla installed I will be a new reading for it soon too, but I can tell you right now that the Borla (regardless of dBA measurements) is MUCH quieter than the Agency Power... Just food for thought though.

Hard to beat this one in terms of sound http://www.rx7store.net/product_p/rx8storerx8.htm

It uses Magnaflow mufflers which give it a nice deep tone. The Racing Beat and Borla are also nice but a little to quiet.

Lol, well I hadn't personally heard how quiet the Racing Beat was, and I knew the Borla was quiet. So I stuck with an exhaust I had heard and had a pretty good recommendation for So thanks again for the ride!

I recall someone cut open the OE muffler early on and removed some of the packing to give it more sound.

I'm running the Exotic Speed Catpipe. It's a bit louder than your midpipe/exhaust combo, but its tolerable on the highway. It's at least enough to hold me over until I go FI.

he uses the stock catback? If i am gonna keep my stock catback i am gonna have any problem in the near future with my catalyst? what about replacing the stock tube with an other 3inches +opening the hole where the tube weld? and after the catback till the tips replacing the curve tube with some bigger? like 2.25 inches and add twi tips 4 inches? In that way i am gonna get a better flow on my stock catback and th lowest db of noise?

Just do the RB Dual Exhaust. Even with a non resonated midpipe (such at the RB midpipe) it's still not loud.

Sigh, loud is a relative term. When I was younger the Agency Power full exhaust wouldn't have been loud, now it is unbearable. This isn't a dig, its just a reminder before someone runs out on advice from someone else and makes a potentially poor decision for themselves (like I did).

Corksport is lighter than probably all the exhausts listed here and it is quiet at idle and sounds great WOT.

Yep, Swoope has it right. I have the Corksport catback. It's fine until you step on the throttle, then it gets loud. I did however, make a 18hr trip in 14hrs with it on.
The OP was driving in a tunnel and that made the exhaust louder than it normally would be.

The Corksport exhaust has been installed on my car since Feb 08 I know it can drone a bit but it sounds great at WOT and it light. But you guys are right it is probably not the quietest exhaust on the market

I had the Racing Beat & I loved it. It sounded stock at anything but WOT & sounded awesome. I then went with an RP Supercat & the RB & it still sounded really great. I switched out to a JIC Titanium (for lighter weight) but it got REALLY loud. Even after I swapped out to the stock cat it is loud.

The RB is the quietest out of all the exhausts. The Greddy is LOUD, the Corksport is really loud. The Borla is loud. Never really heard the Tanabe.

Ok in front of the cat back there is an Exotic speed mid pipe with a 200cpi HJS hi flow cat weld on it and the Rb headers.
Now i go back with the stock cat back and it soynds good. but i believe that i am loosing hp From my aftermarket exhaust parts.
The rb Rev8 is gonna be too loud with the headers and the mid pipe?

You might loose or gain all of 3hp by switching exhaust parts, all you will really change is the sound

So you're saying that high-flow cat or cat delete pipe does nothing then?

He was talking about going back to the stock catback, not the cat. You wont see much at all from a catback... not much, I never said nothing

If that were the case, yeah, a high flow cat or race pipe could add some power, but nothing too serious
