Lightbulb Mid-pipe vs High Flow Cat Converter?

sup guys, i already have a Cat-Back exhaust system, but i'm looking into getting more HP from the exhaust... I was going to invest in either a Mid-pipe or a High Flow Cat... If anyone can help me out and tell me which is worth buying, whether it be because of more power/noise etc.. thanks

My SR cat crapped out on me after about 20k miles. Installing RP Supercat tomorrow morning.

I have the RP Supercat unit on my car right now. Had the SR unit before. Both very nice units. With midpipe you get slightly more hp (though the RP Supercat gave midpipe level hp gains), more sound if that is your thing. You have a large chance of getting the check engine light, and you are polluting the environment more. The hi-flow cat units act to slightly curb sound a bit (catalytic acts as a resonator), & you can still pass emissions.

Hi-flow cat if you wanna pass emission, Straight pipe if you don't mind the drone. Gutting the cat is the worst thing to do.

The RP Supercat is now installed on my 8. It sounds a lot louder than the SR.

From your criteria, go for the RP Supercat then.

Since he already said he needs to pass emissions, the catless is out of the question.

^What he said...AND, what are the gains people have seen with the RP SuperCat?

$395 does not sound too bad at all and IS there a sound clip some place? I don't mind a sexyER and higher sound, but I wouldn't want it to be come annoying on a long trip.

"Search"...I know I know, I'm just being lazy and thought I'd ask a $5 question and await a $5 response.

lol

I read that the rp cat made an oem exhaust sound buzzy at some rpms. I guess the sound really depends on what exhaust you are matching it to. I think it sounds great with the racing beat exhaust and greddy (which was pretty loud)

Thanks.
Its worth getting the kit for the gasket. Also, I have the SR exhaust still and the RP is considerably louder than the SR midpipe (borderline straightpipe noise). I have been asked a couple times already from friends if I was running a straight pipe. I'm sure it had something to do with the SR cat falling apart and restricting airflow, but my 8 "feels" faster with the RP on now.

Use three 7/16" x 1.5" long stainless bolts with nuts and lockwashers for attaching it to the exhaust manifold

I'd recommend replacing the ring gasket between the midpipe and the exhaust manifold anytime it is taken apart

says you get the hp of mid pipe without being so loud.
