Haha thanks a lot mysql101 and rotaryspeed. I definitely think i am going to buy a mazsport kit, but it wont be for a while because i have to save up a lot and frankly theres a lot more i need to learn. But ya i definitely think i am going to get the ceramic seals also as kind of a precaution. As far as the bogging, that was just one of my friends concerns when i told him about my plans. He told me that at lower rpms the engine would be less smooth because these types of kits are supposed to perform at much higher rpms but i had never heard that of any other car. And for the transmission i think i would rather wait until something goes wrong because i dont plan on trying to achieve any more than 400 whp. Also, i live right by modacar which is a great shop and website and they also have a dyno so i would be going to them for all my tuning and frequent checkups to make sure everything is operating up to par.

Once again thank you guys for your help.

Logan

PS - any one no of any more mazsport/ptp dynos, videos, etc.

I'm interested to see how you are going to accomplish that. That is going to take some work.
Personally, I'd like to the the Iannetti carbon seals in a Renesis.

Maniac, never heard of these. Do they help with FI applications where the increased pressure can do some damage? (blow by and such) I have a friend who told me to get the 3mm seals if I could but I don't know of any company making them.

BTW - the avatars are sweet.

Logan, check this thread by mysql101 out, it has most of the current turbo and supercharger kits that are out. Doesn't have the PTP torque curve but it still shows a great comparison of the current kits.

Ya i am sorry, i confused the ceramic seals with ceramic coating. It offers it as an option with the mazsport kit...
http://www.mazsport.net/html/rx8turbo.htm
Also, on the dyno chart, which mazsport kit were they testing... type 1, 2, or 3?

I don't know if it matters which kit they tested, since its the same fuel management system and turbo in all of them. They are just in different configurations, and with different intercooler setups. Power should be similar regardless.

LMAO @ Rotaryspeed18's original "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie quote!!!

My fave was "Good thing these guys aren't lumberjacks, cause the only thing safe in the woods would be the trees!"

Yes!! I knew there was another TMNT fan out there. Great set of movies. the Original is the best by far imo...

Agreed!!
Also depending on what other performance upgrades you plan on doing will give a different power outcome. (i.e. exhaust system and such)

The Mazsport dyno is a type I kit. Type II and III don't have dyno's out AFAIK.

Yeah, that is kindof what i figured. But on mazsports website it suggests that one is better for street and one is better for race applications, but there is quite a big price difference... Thats all. Which would you guys recommend for mainly street use?

I think the ones street designed ones are type I and III(the ones with the air-to-air intercoolers). I may be wrong though. Although I'm not saying you can't use the type I or III on the track.

Bump for any updates or opinions on the PTP kit. I am trying to get as much info as I can to help another member who is going through turbos. The hardware seems fairly good but.....

Well since you can no longer buy the Mazsport turbo kit... as far as I know.... I have since changed my opinions about the kits themselves. I am now looking into the Greddy Kit (even though I stated before that I did not like the kit) and the PTP kit. Jon from Protech sent me an e-mail on it once with some info but I unfortunately deleted it. BUT you can check their website for more info. projectptp.com
The greddy kit is also good with the various upgrades you can buy from Mazdamaniac.

Greddy kit with the MM upgrade is the way to go at this time.

However.. BHR is cooking up the same kit all inclusive!

I'd buy an all inclusive for sure.

Just go with the Greddy kit

I put on the Greddy turbo kit on my RX8 in one day. I also, instealled a blitz I-Color boost controller. It's the way to go, I'm going to up grade the fuel injectors plus the fuel pump. My RX8 is super fast right now!! That's low boost, 5-7 psi, for right now. Next I'm going to put and AEM Meth/water tank in, which makes the air always cold!!
