switching from the piano black interior to the carbon is something I would definitely consider... but only if I could switch ALL of it. The door handles, shaft trim, door switch panel, AND radio. I want to see a carbon fiber radio console.

While you can get a lot of the interior trim parts in the carbon fibre, like door handle trims, steering wheel trim, mirror, console trim, etc., the door panel for the window switches, etc. is handed for right hand (Japan) vehicles only so far.

Yeh, I'd expect them to come it at an amazing weight ~14lb ... fat chance on that though.

If you want the weight-savings, just get some ssr comp's (around $1200 for all four).

So I went looking for these ssr comps ... found this site ...

http://www.tirerack.com

Not only do I get to pick my car and it's colour, I get to try all of the different wheels on it. TOP SITE!!!

They say the SSR Comps are 15.4lbs ... are they really that light? Are they strong?

THanks for the tip

nonono.
SSR comps are nice.
But they break easily.

If you really want weight savings go with a centerline wheel.

These come in 17,18,19 and are very strong light wheels (14lbs for the 17 inchers)

THe impulse is very nice tool. Comes also in 17, 18 and 19.
the 17s weigh only 11lbs!!!!! the 18s weigh 13lbs!!!

Check out www.carbonfiberparts.net

He used to hang out on the RX-7 forum and he did the interior plastic parts on a number of cars there. Judging by what everyone was saying, and from the pictures at the site (follow the Past Projects link) the results were pretty amazing, and not really all that expensive.
I'll bet he'd do a fine job on the RX-8!

Lawrence, the centerline RPM up there is fine, but it only comes in:

17x7
18x7
19x7.5

You do know that the stock 18's on the RX8 are 18x8 right?

I did not see the impulse rim up there. Is it also only avail in a *x7?

At these stage we have had no information on a turbo kit for the RX-8.

Also judging from past MazdaSpeed upgrades the Turbo kit will be left to the aftermarket tuners to supply.

Also regarding MazdaSpeed Accessories they are all readily avaialible now from your Mazda dealer.

Please goto MazdaSpeed Japan

This website will also give you all the part numbers for the MazdaSpeed part you need and also speed up the pricing process from Japan as you parts dealers will not have to email Japan to source numbers etc etc.

Hope this Helps

Thanks for your response, Rian. Good to see you on the site too with your dealership info plainly displayed. Hard to believe with 145+ posts I could have missed it up to now.

I usually don't have it displayed.

I prefer myself to be thought of as an enthusist not some Mazda Dealer.

Just helping the cause you know :D

Also someone said there Mazda Dealer doesn't stock the MS parts.

Most don't we only keep the competiton parts in stock and parts that are popular with the rotary community.

So with the RX-8 being such a new model MazdaSpeed bits will have to be ordered from Japan.

My advise though........

BUY THE MAZDASPEED EXHAUST SYSTEM.

(Still covered under warranty and good power upgrade)
