The Corksport catback is about 1/2 the weight of the OE exhaust. Mazda Speed patterned their's after it. I've had it on the car for 5 yrs. It keeps the noise down to a tolerable level even for long trips.

I have a very light Trust Ti exhaust and actually would like a heavier one as I get lots of axle tramp and a bit more weight over the back would help with that ...

Just sayin

I'm thinking of introducing an exhaust system that has already been built and tested. It would outperform most everything in weight and average hp but I am calculating manufacturing costs to see if it's worth bringing to market.

Paul.

would this lean towards more to a single sided exhaust or a dual muffler?

It's a dual. I think the most effective singles are just REALLY loud. The tests we did showed more hp increase than I've ever seen from a cat back on these cars. We have not decided whether we should produce these as yet. I will try to quickly evaluate and give some pricing (Few days to a week).

Hmmmz... Since u are looking into this... And theres undeniable grounds that one outlet still produces more hp compared to the dual however with a drawback for sound... why not i PM u for something to look at...

Mine would not be the lightest so I think I will reserve my comments for another thread.

You can build one out of Titanium probably for a fraction of what this thing costs, but hey, it is the lightest off-shelf muffler for the RX8.

Revolution Tune 12 lbs.

Left side of the muffler is the main exit pipe 90Φ 60Φ all made of titanium, including pipe including silencer to the end, until the pipe from the flange end. Weight is the weight of about 1/3 of the genuine is about 5.5kg. Approximately 10 horsepower will be expected in the type S. Proximity noise is playing a high-pitched sound of the unique racing titanium muffler is suppressed in (its own measurements) 94db by mounting the flange and the inner silencer silent but for the competition.

For nearly 2000€ it better be made of unabtonium... Titanium is indeed expensive but not THAT much.

It's on my car. My entire custom exhaust system; engine manifold, cat/resonater pipe, and dual muffler/tip cat back, together in total weigh less than the Mazda OE cat back. 90+% of it is 20 Ga. T321 with some 18 Ga. pieces in the manifold and a few pieces of 18 & 20 Ga T304 in the very back.

The lightest exhaust would use 22 and 24 Ga. Inconel 625. It would also be the most expensive. It is superior material for a turbo manifold though

so the pipe to the box is 90mm (3.5") ? and only the exit pipe to the exhaust tip is 60mm (2.3")?

truth. I have an 8lb resonated pipe I use for autoX, and while it has no problem passing sound at the sites we use, it is pretty loud inside the car.
