The K&N air filter never needs to be replaced. You buy their $20 "cleaning kit" from Autozone or where ever and clean it when it looks extremely dirty. When I had my Racing Beat I cleaned it just about every year since bugs used to stick to it.

Try buying it from one of our forum vendors. https://www.rx8club.com/vendor-forums-60/

just FYI there are better alternative solutions that are better and cheaper out there for what you are looking for... unless you are totally into the ricer civic sound.

I like the sound of the typhoon intake. Plus I have a ram air duct in my bumper so mine is actually a cold air intake.

The filter comes with the kit. It will last 1,000,000 miles, sooo you should never have to replace it, lol. When it gets dirty you simply wash it out with a K&N Filter Recharge kit and then re-oil it with the same kit. I own this intake and I like the sound, but I need an exhaust. It drowns out the exhaust note. Good filter. I doubt it's 10hp gains unless you have other aspects of your car tuned, then I would believe the 10hp. I did notice the dash vibrating at higher rpm, like 8000 high. Buuut, its to be expected with all that noise. And my car only has 30,000KM not miles on it (18,750 M).

Where did you get that ram air intake? And how much? And does it come in blue?

ok so this might sound dumb but...what happens if you dont oil your intake? not planning on avoiding that little bit of maintainance but just wondering if anyone knows what will actually happen to the filter/car.

thread resurrection! Sorry guys, just a quick question. On rx8strakes.com it says they dynod the typhoon too at an 11.5HP gain. I find that EXTREMELY hard to believe. Which intake actually has the most HP gain? And how much would you guys say the typhoon actually gave you?

none of the intakes give u any measurable gain.

its all within 2-3 hp mark. most is like what, 5 maybe.

so ...

I tried all Typhoon Ver 1 and 2, and Mazdaspeed (same as AEM) so ... yeah I know how it all work.

No, probably it'll decrease amount of HP. Don't buy intake for HP gain.

Hmm all of my RX8 owning friends explained to me how it would not add horsepower at all, only sound. I was looking at some dynoes with just CAI equipped RX8s and the gain if any is usually 2 to 3 hp which is well within the dynoes percentage of error and there are so many little factors that can change the hp levels ever so slightly. But in the end i do not see it being worth 200 to 300 even if it did gain 2 to 3 hp

Any short ram intake will take away power because of the hotter intake air temp.

If you want a loud intake and don't mind losing a few ponies then get a SRI.

How much of a hp gain difference is the typhoon from a k&n filter drop into the stock intake?

The typhoon will probably decrease HP by a tiny bit. I felt it made my car idle more roughly and maybe, just maybe, a _bit_ less power. But the sound was awesome nevertheless. Though I would go for the RB Revi intake + the revi duct. (I'm stock now, sold my Typhoon 2....)
