I am pretty certain it's a simple plug in Harness adapter... No cutting!

Isnt the microtech around the same price as the interceptor? Maybe 200 cheaper at most?? I dont understand any advantages with it though or disadvantages. So its basically a 200 dollar cheaper interceptor?

Maybe for you Americans but here in Aus no. Installed and tuned the Microtech will cost me $1600-$1700 Aus dollars (approx $1200 US Dollars) while if I could import the Interceptor X it will cost upwards of $2500 minimum!

That difference is half the cost of tein coilovers for me!

ILIV48,

It is hard to compare prices across the globe like this. What is cheap for them is the Interceptor X. They may get the Microtech in a much more expensive price. We get the unit shipped here cost money and not worthwhile.

Just stick with what it is good locally. There is no magic to the unit being sold but there is magic in the hand of the tuner.... just remember this.

I still envy and love if a Japanese tuners tune cars in HK. They hired them and pay for their air fare to tune their car. Hehe however, we have good tuners that tune Motec

There are good companies and good tuners all around the world. Too bad prices can't stay equal all around the world regardless of location. Everyone would have many more choices.

If Mazsport is using Microtech LT10S it is $1195.00 AUD = $915 US dollars. Then you have to add in the ECU Wiring-Patch Harnesses for $200. I believe Mazsport is using the one from ECU Wiring-Patch Harnesses as they are listed as RX8 vendor. You are already at $1115 not including the wiring and labor needed to put these together. With the Interceptor at $1649 that is roughly a $500 difference to cover the rest of the parts, labor to put it together and all the R&D time and money put into the unit. I almost forgot the custom map and customer service support. I would say for what you are getting with the Interceptor "AKA Microtech" is a very good deal and worth the money. These units are used as standalones on many RX7s producing 400-500 hp and more. Plug and play, custom map, and the support is worth the $1649.

using hymee's scanalyser, and i have seen advance close to 40 degrees advance, i dont have my laptop in front of me, but if remember correctly, i have seen timing at around 36 to 38 degrees advance at on full throttle runs.

It is very possible that there is a small shape difference that is hard to see without a side by side comparison. I know for a fact they can run that much at part throttle/low loads. I'll find out at Sevenstock next month what the exact shape differences are between rotors.

most microtech units I've seen are in the 900-1000 range without software or a harness.

This is simply the market. If you realize this, the cost for the Mazsport Unit really is about right on.

I hope Scott or someone from Mazsport would update more frequently.

The last time they even logged on was 8/31.

I'm working on the Megasquirt. At the moment I am really just waiting on the ignition code to get done. It is very close. Scott is the one to look for when it comes to Interceptor gains.

by not hearing any thing yet concerning the unit and na cars tells me 2 things.
1- No electrifying results-- I think most of us expected that
2- Scott is doing it right. Taking his time and squeezing out what he can AND insuring that you will have a very driveable car.
Ok lets get a bet going ! I predict a peak hp gain of to 217 at the wheel. With the usual mods in place of revi and catback/light flywheel etc. Stock 8 I would predict around 205hp. Torque I dont know. I predict most gain in the open loop area (above 6k or so) and maybe small gains in the closed loop area of 5-7 hp.
I hope I am very surprised in the actual results but this gives us something to talk about while we wait.

Based on a conversation I had with Scott a few days ago I would say that he is totally consumed with getting the turbo kit out right now. He sounded comitted to getting to the NA kit but was realistic that it would take a good 20 to 30 hours of shop time to get it dialed in and he just doesn't have that time until the turbo kit is released.

i'm gonna go by friday and see where they're at...

no rush for NA, as the gains certainly aren't worth the price anyway. i just want it now for when I go FI (got a good deal from efini 8)

Not necessarily, the interceptor-X is a nice starting mod, as you can build on it rather than have to sell it on ebay.

I wouldn't be suprised if many add the interceptor-x before any FI with the problems people have had w/ greddy. (provided they can get some decent gains anyway.)
