OR is this the kind of setup you are referring to? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/STAIN...QQcmdZViewItem
Having the benefit of filtering out oil vapors & no worry of a oily engine bay will this type setup also increase throttle response?

My experience with this:
I recently (~2 weeks ago) took my vehicle to the dealer and mentioned, "milky substance on dipstick" and they didn't do what was specified in the updated TSB. They just inserted a sleeve into where the dipstick goes to which wipes/grabs the gunk before the dipstick is fully removed -- the gunk now is accumulated under the sleeve.
Goodbye!

Won't the oil be wiped off also?
If they really did this, this could be the stupidest thing I've heard of a dealer doing.

That is actually the procedure Mazda proscribes in their TSB on the issue. This is also why I no longer rely on Mazda or the dealerships to come up with solutions or perform the labor for ANYTHING on my car. Unfortunately, I have been diagnosed with the "Rotaryitis" so I still love the car and the engine and I refuse to get rid of my 8.
Here is the pix of the sleeve:

As Charles mentioned, this is the is (was) the Mazda procedure for milky substance. The new procedure is here: https://www.rx8club.com/attachment.p...id=95484&stc=1 Which it does not appear my dealer performed. Furthermore, on my invoice, it says a "new style" dipstick would be included, alas i have the same 04/early 05 dipstick
. Its not detrimental anyhow.

I spoke to David Haskell about them at Sevenstock. They are stock engines. They do have a header, no cat, and free flowing mufflers though. They still use the stock intake including a factory paper air filter. To my knowledge VFAD is gone. That's it. That's all they are. They do retune them with Motec ecu's though. Using their race gas they get right around 260 fwhp.
David even told us exactly what part their 3 rotor setup uses right down to rpm limit and intake runner length.

rowteree, I just ordered a yellow breather filter online. I can show you next meet what this thread is talking about, although it's pretty simple. You can go too any auto parts store and I suggest you get a red filter (I try too match the car). Just put it over the tube right next too the oil cap, then cap off the end of the tube that goes too the intake.
