Yeah i found out yesterday evening from the manager at RZ motoring that the price i was quoted on the MS kit was a replica, his associate told me wrong.

But if you go on Ebay there is a guy selling a authentic MS front bumper piece for 3 and change.....i would jump on it but holding out for the whole kit.

Actually the VQ3.5 had a decent air intake system stock , like the RX-8 it to had duct work that sucked in cold air from behind the grill/bumper(Maxima had it from the grill). And most 3.5 Maxima guys rather use the stock air box with a high flow panel and modify the stock air box to recieve a tad bit more air. Resulting in the most gains that any other aftermarket intake.

One thing with the Injen and other aftermarket intakes on the VQ3.5 it shifted the powerband to mid to high range. Leaving you a little laggy on the lower end rpm spectrum but giving you impressive mid level kick to redline(4000 rpm-6700).
The stock intake system that was slightly modified would give you all around impressive pull from idle to redline......not to shabby,3.5 guys refer to the setup as the GAB(Ghetto Air Box) But hey it worked!

I may try this on my 8......

I had a Spec V with a NISMO intake. NOW THAT'S FREAKN LOUD!!!!!!! But it definitely had a deep throaty sound and a definite gain that you can feel.

i love the " angry mosquito " sound from my HKS intake. Although it sounds more like an angry ROTARY than anything else.

*in response to the first post*

That's pretty much the biggest reason I spent my $600 on the Borla exhaust, rather than ANY form of intake. The few I've heard make the engine sound too tinny, and high-pitched. A sound that really doesn't fit the car at all (although some people say the REVi is actually a little more deep?).
