HKS DLI II Ignition Amp install help!

Can someone who has installed this with the rx8 specific harness tell me which set of wires goes to which coil. Or, if someone in Virginia Beach can read Japanese and wants to stop by for a few minutes, I'd appreciate it.

I mounted mine just to the left of the window washer cannister using a simple bracket... it's also close to a good engine ground!

hmm very temping ...

isnt it that the longer the wire the more resistance you get ? Is it a better idea to route it as close to the coils as possible and just ground it to the battery ?

The Twin Power DLI II kit comes with an RX-8 vehicle specific harness. The harness comes in only one length, so it really shouldn't matter where the Twin Power is mounted.

I hope this helps!

Where did you get the bracket? How much? I would like to relocate my HKS unit as well. Thanks.

I just made an "S" shaped bracket. Please see the attached pic.
Sorry it took so long to respond, I had to remove the bracket in order to take the pic!

The red LED should be on when the engine is on. It should be dim at idle and get brighter as the rpms increase. If it's not doing this, make sure the ground is connected to a good engine ground.

I hope this helps!

thanks for your fast respond! i already try that b4, on mine, if i wiggle the unit, then the led kicks on, then after some time it will go off. my car is turbo and it puts out alot of heat, do u think heat may damage my wire harness?
thanks again for your help!!!

The heat should not damage your wire harness, as long as it is not resting on a pipe. Many FD owners have them installed with no problem, and their under hood temps are a lot higher. That is one of the features that many people like with the HKS unit is that the box and harness itself seems to hold up to the hot engine bay of rotary cars.

twin powers are a mixed bag. Ever heard of the "black goo" failure? It's important to protect it from vibration and heat, they do fail.

on the rx-7 ignition system they are good for 550+rwhp though, i made 386 with one myself

12 years later and it’s still an absolutely worthless mod on an RX8
