I don't see how that makes any difference really. They sell illegal exhausts for rx7's and just say it is not intended for street use, but of course many people do.

It was actually just sarcasm.

They have stated that they are only concerned with emissions legal performance for this particular car.

LOL

Oh also, any news if they have a different rear bumper design? One exhaust would actually look fine if the bumper matched.

no because almost every exhaust duplicates the factory dual-tip system, now that I'm moving out of Stock I'll probably make some custom screens to cover the OE exhaust surround openings

Ah I see.

I've actually decided to keep my rx8 emissions legal as well, unlike my 2nd gen rx7. I just don't have the need or desire to make it smell bad and be as loud and annoying for a few more rear wheel hp over a high flow cat unit. Plus the CEL would annoy me.

All indications that I have heard are that no one can actually modify and create flashes for the ECU, at least in the Mazda/WDS sense. My understanding was that they were hacking up the fueling tables. I imagine it is possible (through trial and error) to take an ECU flash file, which are downloadable by anyone, and figure out which parts of the binary do what.

If they really had access to do whatever they wanted in terms of programming the ECU, why would they need a test bench for the ECU? Why not just put the car on the dyno and tune it like any aftermarket ECU?

If it's a RACING exhaust then why isn't it straight through design? Looks like the stock exhaust with one outlet to me.

I'm all for racing exhausts but why even worry about db in the first place?

How much difference is 20lbs? .001?

Why not just get the titanium jic and call it a day. I rather spend the extra money and maintain the vin diesel wannabe then buy this exhaust and have an open space?

Besides I'm sure you can build a better straight through design by going custom.

Its less than 1% in terms of the weight to power ratio, or about 2 hp equivalent.

Ok then I didn't realize that was yours. Good job, that's what I'm talking about. I just can't understand why rb attempts a race exhaust and then worries about db and it looks like it still weighs too much for a full race application. Plus yours is what a race exhaust should look like. no compromises....I like it!

quite a few tracks and autox sites have noise restrictions so the dB level is important, that's the only reason I converted from a straight pipe to a muffler, well that and the piercing sound drilling into my eardrums on the highway

I doubt their header will be better than the others, can't wait to see the spin tho ...

Here is another option: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...single+exhaust

pics: http://www.cactus.org/~edj/rx8club/muffler/

Only bad thing about the one side exhaust is it is not much to look at. The TeamRX8 and Racing Beat system just have a turn down and dont even come out the bumper. For a lack of a better option I just painted mine black. The whole idea with the one side system is to save weight, so I cant see adding a fake tip on the drivers side just for looks. While not as nice to look at my system weighs 16.5lbs vs 22.5lb for RB. I am sure the TeamRX8 is even lighter. You can copy both the TRX8 and mine for about 1/2 what the RB system will sell for.
