The heatshield weld on my RP Supercat broke, annoying rattle, need advice! D/FW Texas

Hello all --

Today I was driving around and start to notice an ever worse "rattle" coming from under my car... the only thing I've done was install my RP Super CAT... after driving around hoping the cat wasnt fried or melted or otherwise broken, i parked at home let it cool off and then started feeling around and the heatshroud on the RP Super cat one of them has broken and that's where my rattle is coming from.

What would be the best solution to fix this? My dad has a welder back home (but thats 250 miles away) and I'd hate to have to take it to a shop and pay 50 bucks for some greasy fat man to do a 30 second tac weld for this thing.

Does anyone in the Fort Worth, TX area (NE FW -- 820 and N. Beach is my location) happen to have a welder and some ramps/jacks and might be able to help me out? I would be willing to compensate you for your time or bring some beers or something (sorry out of hookers and pot) haha

If there isnt anyone like that in the local area, how much would be a "fair" price to be charged at a muffler shop to fix this? I'm very happy with the RP SuperCAT unit itself, just kinda sucks that I have to find a place with a lift and welder to weld the stupid heatshield thingy back on in the corner its' coming off.

After doing some reading here -- some have reccommended I just cut the heat shield off?? my center console already gets hot enough, wouldnt it be "bad" if i took the heat shield off?

Thanks for any advice!
Cheers
Jeff

You may not have to pay $50. I took my car to a muffler place to get an exhaust hanger fixed, that's more labor than just tack welding the heat shield, and I was only charged $5.

Most muffler places(in my experience) won't dick you over for something so small.

thanks for the advice... the meineke place told me they would have to charge me 25 dollars if they were to do "anything" under my car to tighten/fix/weld anything...

should I tell them to suck my dick and say do it for 5 bucks or im leaving? I hate being a dick , but I'm genearlly pissed I have to go back in for something this tiny yet so annoying. It's not meineke's fault I know now... but I just dont wanna get raped for 5 minutes of work.

Gotham Racing contracts out their welding work to a local guy in North Ft Worth.
You may want to call them, and find out who they use.

My RP supercat rattles as well, but its not from the heat sheild, its from the pipe hitting one of the cross braces. This is no doubt due to the lack of a factory hanger.
