Heat from Turbo Kit

I'm seriously considering putting Turbo Kit in my Rx8 (most likely Greddy).

But before I proceed with my plan, can someone who already installed turbo kit tell me:

1) How much heat actually get generated from the Turbo in Rx8? Is it manageable?
Because when I had BMW 3 Series, after putting Turbo Kit and drive for 2 hours, the car would get so hot, I couldn't seat in it. The hot air would come out from the vents, and you wouldn't be able to touch the hood or a shifter area, which really was taking all the fun of driving that car.

2) How is the gas mileage? I mean if I configure my boost controller to the lowest setting, what gas mileage should I expect?

Thank you
Nick

Well The Heat is not bad. It does not effect the inside cabin at all. The engine bay heat is not too bad. The turbo sets low and by the wheel well so I think alot of it gets out before the it has a chance to raise to the engine portion of the bay.

Gas mileage has been the same if not better for me. I dont keep my foot in it all the time and you dont have to keep high RPM's anymore because the power is on call now. Makes it fun to pass with out shifting
Hope this helps

-Ryan
p.s. get the greddy kit!

Well the backfire is fixed with tuning. If you leave the stock exhaust in place it will not backfire at all.

Thank you for reply guys.

Well I have borla, and I'm planning to put High-Flow Cat. backfire sucks. But if you can tune it that it's not that bad.

Please if anyone have a different experience with Turbo Kits, please let me know, as I don't want to spend so much money AGAIN, and regret it later

If you score yourself a vented hood, the head will be a non-problem.

I had a GSX and that ****** made so much heat it was brutally uncomfortable, and I had an RX-7 with a vented hood that made a LOT more power and heat, but the heat dissipated so quickly with the vented hood that it wasn't problematic at all.

I already have vented carbon hood, so I guess I'm good.
So can you tune turbo or not, I got confused by few of your replies? ...

True...but I also thought there were quite a few questions about the map that Jon got from Greddy. Were those resolved?

Well from my point of view EVERY car should be tested and tuned with a wideband IMO. So I say get it tuned.....

And the map is unlocked but not sure if your car will react to it fine or not.

I drove the kit from LA to San Diego (about 300 miles round trip) & I had no heat issues whatsoever (EGT stayed in the very comfortable 6 range the whole time).

Backfire (I have the RB exhaust with SR Motorsports hi-flow cat & resonator) is when the fuel isn't fully burned up through the exhaust, so when you decelerate & the engine isn't on full cycle the excess gas ignites in the pipe & you get a popping sound & sometimes flame.

where did you get it?

is it 100% carbon fiber or is it carbon on fiberglass?

how does it fit?

is it uv treated and clear coated?

A month ago. You even posted in a thread where it was discussed and implemented (Jon's turbo install thread). What are you smoking?
