flywheel worth

I just had my throwout bearing go to hell and back.,,, So i ordered a f1 stage 1 clutch off ebay.... I know alot of people dont use many ebay brands but i have used this companys clutches before and it was a huge price difference compared to Autozones OEM clutch... Im not looking for anything to improve from a clutch except longevity.

Now with that said...I was looking up flywheels and I know about the counter weight and all, but most cars go from a 30lbs flywheel to a 9-15 lb and thats a good drop in rotational weight with the rotarys the lightest ive found is 8lb and after adding the counter weight your back to about 12lb... The stocker is 16.8 so its only a difference of 4.8lbs, Is this even a noticible upgrade of does it daily driving god aweful?

From what I have read, gains are minimal but may be worth it since your replacing the clutch.
On another note there is an abundance of info on fly wheels if you spend 5 seconds and search.

I've often wondered about whether I want a lighter flywheel. I already sometimes have a hard time driving my 2009 RX-8 smoothly. I'm afraid going to a 9 lb. flywheel will only make it harder. I loved the lighter flywheel in my 2005 Mazda3, but it was 11 lbs., and it wasn't all that hard to drive smoothly.

I have the light flywheel from rx7.com on my rx-8 and I really do like it despite a slight drop in drivability. I've had it for almost 6 months now and I highly recommend it for the rx-8 for faster rpm gains. Overall it doesn't feel too bad and after a month or so you'll be completely use to it.

Sometimes I find myself "cheating" a little and reving a little bit to raise the RPM a bit to give me time to shift. Maybe I'm just getting too old to move my feet as fast as I used to!

I just had to change the clutch on my 8. I went with an exedy stage 1 clutch. Being that the tranny was going to be off i decided to go with the racing beat aluminum flywheel which comes to 12 pounds including the counterweight. i am very happy with it so far. granted its only been on the car a couple weeks.
