If I think what you are asking, it does slightly move the oil cooler down but not that much, I will get a hold of the field tester and have him take pics on his car.

Wouldn't the fan impede the airflow at high speeds? Say like 100+ Mph, on track, of course.

Yep! I was factoring that in. They can be used in conjunction together.

Impede, no. With our testing there was no loss or gain at high speeds we couldn't improve the efficiency at higher speeds. Even at 50MPH+ the cars efficiency for oil cooling was as good as it can be. This is geared towards the daily driver/autocross driver so that in low speeds and idle the car oil temps will be lower and not climb like Chris has stated.

Measured 1/4" lower with the spacers on there.

I apologize if these questions are somewhat noobish, but I'm going to ask anyway!

Regarding the two wiring options:
If the kit is wired in such that it kicks on and off at temperature and speed (I'm assuming the same time as the radiator fan), then the kit basically only helps bring down peak temperatures more quickly, right?
If it's wired in to the ignition, then the fan basically runs all the time? Is the kit easy to disconnect in the winter when we'd want our car to reach temperature?

Other random questions:
How much power does the fan draw?
Temperature drop for one fan vs two fans (The point being if two are really needed)?
If only buying one, would installing it on one cooler or the other be better (I'm assuming the fan is interchangable between sides)?
If one was to purchase your fan control kit (can you explain how this works BTW?) , I'm assuming the oil cooler fan would tie in with it?

Correct it will bring peak temperatures down initially and maintain the lower temps it will not wait for the temperature to go back up before it comes on. Once it is on it will maintain those low temperatures.

The kit is easy to disconnect with relays and the wiring if during the winter you wanted it off.

One vs. Two Fans warmer climates are recommended to have two units to maintain the lower temperatures while the single fan would be ideal for those in the north that only have partial summers.

If you buy one it is not interchangeable you have to pick which side, if you are going for one it is recommended to do the Drivers side Oil Cooler.

The Oil Cooler kit and fan kit were designed to be able to work together, so those that have the cooling kit would be able to have the Oil cooling fan kit as well without issues. The cooling fan kit is used for the radiator fans so that you can have a cooler running RX-8 as well as colder A/C.

Also it appears there is an issue with IE on that portion of the site for which reason we are still figuring out, so anyone that is having issues ordering please let me know and I can manually process your order.

We have corrected the issues on the website concerning IE mixups.

We also have added more pictures to the original post.

Absolutely, we would not bring a product to market if it wasn't thoroughly tested.

An avg 30 Degree temperature drop is to be expected with this product installed.

have you found that lowering the oils temp also caused the coolant tempt to come down some?

Lowering oil temperature reduces the amount of heat in the engine allowing the primary cooling system to work more efficiently which will further reducing engine operating temperatures. So yes the coolant temperatures will go down as a result as well.

I don't quite understand this. Being that the fans only kick on when the temperature gets hot enough, they would just maintain the temperature right?

Just a couple questions:

I'm assuming the 30 deg drop was with 2 coolers. Have you tested the temperature difference with just one cooler? How did you modify the ducts behind the wheel liner? Any idea as to how effective would the cooler be without the duct mod? Thanks.

ANY rx8 owner should want a cooler running 8....since that's a MAJOR problem (not really problem but downfall of the rotary) with the rotary......anything to take heat OUT of the engine is better weather is have pistons(ewwwww) or rotors...

The 30 Degree drop was with only one oil cooler actually, it was the drivers side.
We modified the ducts like others have with the DIY oil cooler duct mod where we took a dremel and just made the openings larger.

Without the duct mod we would still expect a significant temperature drop but just not as much.
