Finally Oil Cooler Fan Kits!!

Now Available!

One of the most common causes of RX-8 engine failure is excessive heat. High temperatures have long been the enemy of rotary engine longevity and performance. There are many effective modifications that can increase the cooling capacity of your RX-8s primary cooling system – the engine coolant, water pump and radiator. Until now there have been few ways to address the secondary cooling system – the engine oil and coolers.

The oil system of the Rotary provides approximately 30% of the engine cooling.

During normal operation engine oil is routed through the eccentric shaft into the rotors to provide cooling and lubrication. When engine oil temperatures are reduced, more heat is removed from the engine reducing demand on the primary cooling system.

Since the RX-8 does not come equipped with an oil temperature gauge most owners are not aware there is a problem until it’s too late and they are facing engine failure or low compression.

With another hot summer upon us oil temperatures in street applications are extremely high and customers are reporting engine operating temperatures in the 240f range. If the past is any indication, this will lead to yet another round of summer engine failures.

How it works:

During low vehicle speed or in stop and go traffic the lack of airflow does not promote efficient heat transfer from the factory oil coolers. Using our oil cooler fan kit (or kits) with the factory installed oil coolers significantly improves air flow across the oil coolers lowering oil temperatures and assisting in the reduction of engine operating temperatures.

The kits are available in driver, passenger, or two sided configurations to meet any level of cooling needs.

The passenger side kit is compatible with automatic transmission cars as well providing additional transmission cooling which can extend transmission life.

Protect your investment by lowering engine oil temperatures and extending engine life.

Helps prevent:

* Overheating
* Low RPM drivability issues
* Heat related performance loss
* Lower engine compression
* Issues with seals
* Rapid deterioration of water jacket seal (the equivalent of head gaskets)

Kit Includes:

* High flow fan
* Custom RX-8 specific fan shroud
* Mounting bracket
* Smart fuse holder
* Heavy duty relay
* Plug & play harness

These kits are ideally suited for daily driven and autocross applications!

wow nice!

Brettus 07-22-2009 07:00 PM

/\ signal off the first stage rad. fan relay would be a good option ......

Race Roots 07-22-2009 07:27 PM

Yes, it can be wired two ways.

They can cycle on and off based on engine temperatures and vehicle speed and will continue after the engine is turned off.

or

It can be wired via Ignition when the vehicle is turned on.

Very nice.. Good job brice! I might be ordering one after I move to TN

syntheticdarkness 07-22-2009 07:52 PM

Not right now, but in time I'm going to need two. One question though, when you buy these kits should we cut the vents on the inside of the fender a little bigger since it will be forcing more hot air out now?

Great job by the way!!!!

rodjonathan 07-22-2009 08:37 PM

these will be on my to do list

9krpmrx8 07-22-2009 09:04 PM

OMG, perfect timing. $175.00 for each side? Discount for both? I didn't know you guys had a fan control kit either.

Also, it says plug and play. What does it plug into?

TheBurkeMan 07-22-2009 09:38 PM

how come it says 175 here but but 135 on the site... and is that for one or a pair

czar 07-22-2009 09:56 PM

i guess i know where all my 3 month bonus is going to ~_~,

will i ever own furniture such hard profound questions, does the front bumper need to be removed ? or just the plastic fender liner (i ask because i forgot to leave slack in the cable for the jamming heads >_>)

stanknasty56 07-22-2009 10:03 PM

wow very nice, i like the idea.

Spinning Sushi 07-22-2009 10:04 PM

I've thought up of this idea about two years ago but I couldn't find a fan small enough to go behind the oil cooler from my local auto-parts store.

quazmosis 07-22-2009 10:12 PM

I like this. Easy to instal yourself? Come with directions?

nycgps 07-22-2009 10:48 PM

wow, nice :)

I think Im ok ... I think my cooling system is fine for now ...

if I have the extra cash, why not ?

Great work man !

czar 07-22-2009 10:55 PM

heh, down here in texas its been hot, everday is a 100+F day. a little extra cooling never hurts, was thinking of water mister on them

Flashwing 07-23-2009 01:14 AM

Brice I have a question as well if you don't mind...

I know you removed the wheel well lining to take pictures but are you able to still use the wheel well plastic? I always found it to be a tight space but I couldn't tell by your pictures.

Great product! I've always felt fans were an excellent idea because it gives you extra cooling when you need it but you can turn them off in the winter or colder months.

matt13b 07-23-2009 02:27 AM

Can these be shipped to Australia??

foo77 07-23-2009 03:49 AM

great product :icon_tup: +1 what Flashwing said, pics with all cover up will be great :) as for the plug and play, do you mean it will work like mazsport fan kit before? i think that will be great too, where it can detect when it should on and off by itself ;)

bse50 07-23-2009 04:49 AM

you should recommend to open the air vents in the wheel well too imho :) Not much, slightly opening them could avoid the "rebound" of the air pushed by the fans ;)

We ran this on a local car and we experienced a 30 Deg. F drop in Oil Temps. we did modify the ducts behind the wheel liner to increase flow.

You are mixing the oil cooler fan kit and the standard fan kit.

Front bumper doesn't need to be removed, it just makes for an easier installation, it is recommended of course.

I have an engine oil temp and I completely agree with the oil temp issue. Its great while I am driving...but when I sit at a stop light...it starts to climb considerably fast. This cant be good for the engine.

I am interested in what "two other" producs you are talking about...if its improved replacement oil coolers...I am in...;)

Chris

TeamRX8 07-23-2009 03:23 PM

do those mounting spacers relocate the bottom of the oil cooler below the front bumper opening?

04RX8man 07-23-2009 05:27 PM

Yes I think I need some! haha
