Which Exhaust should I get?

So I'm thinking about asking my girlfriend for a new exhaust for Christmas so I can get a little more sound outta more car. I was checking them out on Ebay and they all seem to be really expensive except for a couple of ones that I came across... I was wondering if anyone has installed one on their car and if they had any problems? These are some of the ones I was looking into.

Speed Daddy?

performance AND amazing sound - HKS Hi-power

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZ1ZgIGeE_c

Greddy sp2 - eh

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Xq_mvHtO24

borla - its ok but expensive..i like the deep sound.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pZyDLNpL-jI

agency power - pretty good...like 700 for the entire exhaust system

so all of these are different routes, check the vendors at the main part of the forum to find the cheapest place to get each one, and know that most of your sound and performance will come from getting a midpipe and not from the catback itself.

also you can go with an AEM cai if you want noise only at WOT

but on the other hand the turboxs exhaust is hard to find, they get sold out easily alot. I'd either go with the hks or if you dont like the single outlet go with Greddy. just my opinion

I'd get the HKS Hi-power. No cat-back will get you much power, so you may as well get the lightest and cheapest one out there if you're still determined to have one. Others argue that some of the other cat-backs sound a bit better, but I don't think any of them justify their price tags (most around double that of the HKS). Just my two cents.

I think the ebay ones shouldn't be that bad. The only thing is there seems to be two exhaust hangers missing. I'm talking from a looks and sound perspective only. I might even get it.

those ebay exhausts are notorious for bad welds

That may be the case but the welds look good in the picture. WingleBeast, did you sell your turbo yet?

I did a lot of research when I bought mine and the ones it came down to were

HKS real nice little on the louder side

Racing beat looks nice and backed by there years of experience

then I finally chose Greddy SE II and im very happy with it nice deep sound and the titanium tips are even nicer

one tip I have if your installing yourself make sure you replace the seals\washers if it does not come with your aftermarket exhaust to avoid leaks

good luck

Very few have posted up about the Ebay exhausts but the quality looks good on a couple of them and I considered the Speedy one myself (still may just for ***** and giggles). Many bashed OBX when it came out until a member posted his review of it and updated for a year or two and reported that it has held up well and performed well.

I have personally installed quite a few exhausts on RX-8's and the price does not speak for the quality(HKS, Turbo XS, Racing Beat Revi (old and quad tip), Borla, Agency Power, and mazdaspeed). The Mazdaspeed cat back is known for rusting at the welds and was expensive. The $500.00 (shipped) Turbo XS catback and mid pipe combo had outstanding welds and fitment and has held up very well on the car I installed it on. The Racing Beat Exhausts and Borla's and mazdaspeed catbacks I have installed also had great fitment and sound but not worth $175.00-350.00+ shipping more. I have the HKS and I like it but I must say, fitment is not perfect.

Just search and do you own research.

This is my HKS at idle with SR midpipe (I now have BHR)

I had the Racing beat dual exhaust, great quality and sound but a little heavy.

TurboXS has great quality and value but its very loud and a little raspy. Drives me nuts for DD. I have two of their mid pipes, one for the tracka nd one has a cat for the street. Quiets it down enough for DD and doesnt cause me to choke when I warm the car up in the garage.

An in the car/windows down video of the turboxs exhaust. Also has a header which adds some noise. http://www.youtube.com/user/HighwayRX8#p/u

The BHR midpipe with any exhaust should have a nice sound, even the stock catback with the BHR mid would be a nice upgrade. A little deeper sound and some extra power.
