It does help. The trunk is basically a resonant chamber. I initially figured this out when I realized the car was quieter on the freeway when the trunk was full. A few cheap synthetic blankets in the trunk help reduce the resonance, and don't make any noise bouncing around in the twisties.
This worked so well. It's perfect now.
I used four small blankets and it muffled the cabin noise so well

Sweet im getting mine today or tomorrow , glad to hear they solved the fitment issues . Did you do anything to fix the rattle against the heatshield? Perhaps bang it outta the way?

I'd leave it a few weeks for the packing to relax and the pipes to carbon up, it'll quieten down a little then on its own.
On another note, it's got a bit of hesitation on the throttle blips at the beginning of that video...

I don't have a photo at the moment but i used two fleece blankets and two knit blankets. I just laid them in the back to cover the entire base of the trunk. I also have a rubbermaid bin in the back to hold all my crap so i can take it out easily for autocross. That was in there before but i have to assume it taking up space in the trunk makes the trunk less of a "resonator".

Update:
The exhaust rattles on itself not the heat shield like i originally thought. See pic.
If i wedge something between the two pipes it will stop. Any ideas what i should use?
Also, the exhaust is starting to settle in and is no longer "too loud".
It sounds awesome and i'm getting a lot of compliments.

I can't see your image here at the office because we block ImageShack...but I assume you mean the connection between the muffler and the extension pipe. That connection just needs to be wrenched on some more so that the seal is tight. If not you will have an exhaust leak.

Nope, not there. I've triple checked that for leaks and i think that connection is good.
It's where the pipes overlap on the right. I need something ~1/8th inch thick that can withstand some heat and stay in place. Exhaust wrap?

I think i'll try exhaust wrap for now, and maybe try to bend it if that doesn't help.

Ah...hrmm...yea...either an exhaust wrap or maybe something along the lines of like a fireplace gasket. Those even glue in sometimes so it might be a little easier to do.
btw...the exhaust in the picture has the same problem as mine...sticks out further on the drivers side then the passenger. Anyone know how to fix that on the AP exhaust?
