LET me get this straight.
1 is the stage two tuning completely obtainable in a 1.1?
2 is the stage two tuning too aggressive (timing, etc) or would i really be better of tuning myself on the 1.1?
ive heard the people who have tuned themselves have seen a great improvement.

2. The stage two was too aggressive for my car on cali 91 gas in the first two rows of timing. Easy enough to fix by editing the map. Other than that it feels like a honest 35 HP on my car without further editing and no tuning.
I'm sure that more is to be had with tuning but with 35 extra HP right now without having to do jack.. I'm very happy.

Tuning your CZ yourself will give you better results than just running the stage 2 map. Keep in mind each car is different, and a map that works perfect on one may not run well on another. So the default maps have enough of a safe area to prevent damage to the cars running them.

I'll read the thread fully but after reading the initial post and most of the first page, did anyone pick up on the fact that his mechanic thinks it's running rich at 13 to 1 A/F ratios? You go any leaner and your looking at a new engine due to it running TOO LEAN.

Tim, the rx-8 runs in the 14.5 range until 5500 rpm range, where it goes into open loop. Most cars, mine included, will go to 11 AFR, that is way too rich. You can get away with 13.7 AFR without issue. When I tune my new CZ next week, I will be aiming for a gradual increase from 14 to 13.5 at upper rpms.

okay, time for me to catch up since as you can tell by my post count, I come over from the rx7club when I'm thinking of buying an 8 and find out what's the current news on the 8. I know the 8 can run leaner than my 7's due to the exhaust port configuration, but I didn't know it was that much leaner (compared to what is know to be a danger zone on a NA 13B on the 2nd gens). I knew the car came over at first with some insanely rich (in the 10's) A/F's, so I knew leaning it out to maybe 12 to 12.5 to one would show some gains and be safe. So is it general knowledge on the RX-8 to shoot for leaner than 13's?

Tim, right now the only real way to lean it out is with the CZ, here's a page I setup that has info on the AFR stuff: http://tyrannical.org/page-15
Download the excel spread sheet and click on the third tab, it has a lot of info I pulled from this site when I was researching the topic.

Yes, you will not be able to use aftermarket pullies on an SC because the SC systems are driven off the engine, & in part from these pullies. Change the pullies and the necessary pulley belts might be too short or too long, also it may change the boost characteristics of the SC. The turbo on the other hand is driven off spent exhaust gases, so t does not matter what the pully size is that is used on the engine.
