At my current setup, town drive about 1hr is 95 degree Celsius on the water temp. Highway is 85. ambient = 32-34. No mods on anything that link to the cooling except throttle bypass and relocate the filter box + battery.

in an ambiet in the low 90's like that you can be pushning the edge-- over 200 now. it really starts to get interesting when ambiet gets over 95-96F and of course how hard the car is driven

well I ignored what everyone said and just went ahead and did it

Only been for one drive so far but and it is doing some cooling - no idea as yet as to how effective it will be .

there were two brackets - one for left hand bottom mount one for right hand bottom mount - I ended up cutting up the left hand one to make the two top brackets

Scott , do you have any idea how that valve inside the oil cooler works ? Temp or pressure activated ?
I disabled it cause it looked like it would bypass the flow and that would not be necessary on the water system as it already has the thermostat .....

a secondary water cooler will also lower oil temps. Watch closely the oil temps--you dont want the oil temp to be more than 20degrees hotter than the coolant usually. when race temps lose a oil cooler their oil temps climb 30-40 degrees.
do a 180F thermostat also or you will not be able to take full advantage of a more efficient cooling.

I have been thinking of using the window wash bottle as an additional cooling tool on hot track days.

It involves simply disconnecting the hose and running a pipe to the intercooler. When required then pull the washer washer stalk to drip water onto the intercooler fins. For improved cooling performance methonal can be added to the water. Hopefully pulling the wiper fuse may be able to stop the wiper from operating.

Has anyone tried this idea.

Dunno about our cars, but the Evo 8 came stock with a setup like that. There is a button on the center console that you push and it sprays washer fluid on the intercooler. I have heard (can't verify the info though) that adding methanol to the mix didn't work out well, that it somehow ended up in the charge pipe and made the engine behave erratically.

If it ended up in the charge pipe that car had a boost leak. You can buy sprayer systems for cheap. Check out the Mopar Stage 2 sprayer kit for the SRT-4's, it's cheap.

sorry to take this old thread off topic, but do you guys know if the mazsport fan mod will affect the warranty? I still got an extended warranty, but still want better cooling. Thanks.

It all depends on who makes that decision. Every extended warranty company is different. I doubt you would ever have a problem with it.
