Compatible motors
Ok sorry for my english to start off with. i have my current rx8 that i dont play on doing to it. But i do plan on getting a 04 to change the engine to something with alot more HP in it. Could it be done and what kind of motor would be compatible to fit in the engine bay? yah feel free to flame but atleast give me some info on what could fit and what mods would need to be made. Im looking for something with 300-400 HP under the hood. thx in advance. this is a project this will not be my main RX8.

You are in over your head.
However, to play nice, the only engine that won't require some level of engine bay or firewall modification to "fit" is the one you have in it now.
The next closest engine to "fitting" is the RX-7 engine, but it requires either firewall modification to get it back to the same mounting point, or steering rack and motor mount relocation to get it forward clear of the firewall.
It's cheaper to go the turbo-charging route with this engine than it is to put a different engine in. Regardless, you will need deep pockets. Expect to have at least $10,000 on hand for starters, and if you go with another engine, it will go up from there.
