catback exhaust or straight pipe?

hello everyone, i had a question about the 04 rx-8's. is it possible to remove the cat and put a straight pipe on it? ive done some research, and a couple of fourms said it would mess up the ECU because the rx-8 has 2 O2 sensors. is this true? i also have read a couple other fourms where people have said that they put a straight pipe on there rx8 and it was a success. i guess what im trying to say is...
is it possible to put a straight pipe on my 04 rx8?

Thanks for the help,
-Bryce

yes you can put a straight pipe on the 8 without problems. many people on here have done it. the only thing that it does regarding the ECU is throw a check engine light but it doesnt cause damage. o and it will also enable you to shoot flames out of the exhaust

Your car will turn into a noisy, stink machine by the way.

Yeah, the just CEL light is not true. It could very well cause a strong gasoline odor as well as makes your car substantially louder. Best bet is a hi-flow cat unit. It will give almost the same gains along with not throwing the CEL, no smell, and only a bit louder.
