Thumbs up Blitz compressor....

FYI: Im not sure if this was mentioned anywhere, but this month's Turbo & High Tech Performance has an ad on the 3rd and 4th page about an RX-8 compressor that is in development and will be due out in fall 2004....in the advertisement, they also have a gauge cluster in development as well...

off topic: there was also a great vividracing advertisement in this issue as well. the autoexe kit looks soo sweet... :D

Dammit...I have my Turbo mag sitting in the backseat of the 8 and haven't had the time to look at it. I think in time you will see lots more mention of FI for the 8. Just be patient and wait for some more 8's to get on the road and especially in the hands of the younger crowd who are most likely to ruin a perfectly good warranty by slapping a FI kit on their 8 (Not leaving out us old guys, cuz I've been know to ruin a perfectly good warranty in my time )

Turbo Magazine did a scoop on the TAS 2004, at the Makuhari Messe. They somewhat hinted there was a BLITZ supercharger for the 8. If I'm not mistaken, it's a twin-screw compressor. I think BLITZ's intention of this kit was to add some low-end grunt to the RX-8. I wonder what the average pressure of the compressor is .

I wouldn't be too concerned about the price punishr. I would focus on the device's actual specifications, ease of installation, etc. Then, maybe a price could be negotiated. Try this link. It's in Japanese, but if you can sort through the webpage, I'm sure you can find some information (I haven't been there in a while :o ).

www.blitz.co.jp

FYI, use Altavista or some translation page if you have too much difficulty sorting through the Japanese .

It is a 2 lobe, nontwisted rotor Roots style blower. About as simple and old tech as you can get.

The RX-8 mag gives the following specs :

0.4~0.5kg
60ps
3700rpm(not 100% on what the rpm is for as it is all in Japanese and that is about all I can read)

.4 to .5 kg? Of boost? I sure hope not. In English units, that converts to 0.88-1.10 lbm. And it increases the power 60 PS (metric horsepower)? Weird science. Maybe it meant to say 4-5 kg, which is around 8.82-11.02 lbm of boost.

It's .4 to .5 kg/cm2 (kilograms per centimeter squared) of boost, which is around 6 psi or so. Japanese use either kg/cm2 or bar to measure pressure. We use PSI (pounds per square inch).

That's a pretty safe amount of boost.

Sorry. I just thought it was weird to see pressure in kg. This is why I hate the metric system. It's useless, unless you're taking circuits. Give me Btu's, psi, and the Rankine scale any time of the week.
