So far things are shaping up pretty good. We've got sound numbers from my RX8 with the prototype BHR midpipe, and then numbers with my old B&B midpipe on. Nothing super scientific but we're keeping distances equal so the numbers are valid.

We've also done sound testing with a complete stock exhaust and we'll be doing testing against a Mazsport midpipe w/ a Tanabe cat-back.

Next up is the stock cat back with our pipe.

Yes, he has been deleting his posts. He must feel that there is information there that is wrong/dosn't want divulged or they are not of consequence. It is a work in progress project.

We just finished testing on 3 cars. Espiler exhaust, Tannabe Medalion Touring, and a stocker.
Also have Mazdaspeed dual sport.
Video sound clips will be out in the next day or two.
So far the people that tried it loved it. Even the fellow with the stock was impressed by the fact it was quite. Just lowered the tone. Made it a bit deeper and not louder.
I'm sure these people will post there own impressions soon enouogh

so what kind of performance gain does this provide over other midpipes currently on the market? over stock?

Wow, what a productive day. I wanted to say thanks to Ray for doing the wrenching today. He moved that pipe between 4 cars while Easy gathered video samples.

As Easy mentioned above, we got video samples that would interest everyone. 2 cars with aftermarket cat back's and one RX8 with a totally stock exhaust. There was noticeable differences between the cars before and after the pipe installation.

I'm looking forward to when the video is done here in a couple days for everyone to see the results.

I imagine you can expect similar performance gains over the stock exhaust system that other midpipes provide. During the initial stages of our development we've focused mostly on quality issues...

Sound quality, quality of materials used and fittment quality. We will be providing technical data in terms of flow numbers compared to the stock exhaust system but comparing hard data against other midpipes is nearly impossible because every other exhaust maker has not published these numbers.

As owners, we have no idea if a B&B midpipe flows better or worse than an AP midpipe. The data just isn't out there.

Right now we're focused on making sure the sound is awesome, that the pipe fits without any issues and that we use high quality materials to ensure it lasts!

Glad to hear everything is going great. If you guys need to test it on a 8 with a RB exhaust
Let me know I'm more than willing to help.

After being one of the test subjects for this I must say that I am impressed with the design of this midpipe. To think that I can have a midpipe that will actually fit and not cause me to have to drive around without my under body bracing is fantastic!

Sure I have been impressed by the sound deadening of the Mazsport midpipe but in all reality any aftermarket part that causes me to have to add in spacers or not run with a part isn't exactly a best fit. The other good thing about this is that now I can run a midpipe that hopefully won't scrape things under me as the mazsport one does all the time with the two huge canisters/resonators and I'm not even lowered.

As for sound? Better than the Mazsport and quieter inside. If this thing is cheaper I won't have any issue upgrading to the BHR midpipe as it will be a superior product in my mind.

Oh, did I forget to mention how one of my resonators is pretty much hollow and useless? I wondered why my car had a slight change in tone a while back. It may be safe to say that you only need one proper resonator away from the direct heat shot out of the header in order to quiet down the raspy tone of the rotary.

BHR has done an excellent job designing this and once in production it should be the only midpipe you'll want to purchase.

I was a Mazsport owner previously also, and you are saying this is quieter? That's awesome. How about the sound note? Is it low and rumbly? haha if that is a word.

Thanks Bnosaj.

Yes Nemesis8 it is lower in tone and no raspy sound. Everybody that has heard it thinks it is a much better tone. Deeper and richer sound.

JantzenRX-8,, We don't have the finished product yet. All we have is our prototype. So we don't have a weight for it yet. I know it's lighter than the Mazsport.

Do I get a free tune with this midpipe?

I know this is still the prototype, but any plans for testing the longevity of the MP? I know around 10K miles the mazsport and RP start to have problems; I was just wondering if you guys plan on doing any stress analysis...

Ross are you taking about the packing inside the resonator?

I think he is. didn't some people report that the silencers were 'falling apart' after a certain amount of time?

This resonator will more than likely last longer than your engine. It's design is not one with any type of "packing" material that will deteriorate over time. It will take the temperature of a cutting torch to burn this baby up.

I had the midpipe on my car for about 3 weeks and when we took the pipe off the car I had burned the paint right off the resonator. It went from a nice black to a pale white.

So, yeah since there's no glass or wool packing to burn up or fall out there won't be a quality issue like you'll find with any resonators that have that stuff including the mazsport pipe. Jason who tested our pipe with his mazsport pipe stated above that the packing was missing from his front resonator and caused the tone to change over time.

I put this sucker through the paces enough that I'm certain it's going to last a long time.
