Now with the BHR Midpipe , should I go with or without a catalyst ? I ask because I am currently in KY due to the military but my car is registered in California. So every year I just make a few calls to some friends so I can still get my tags lol. So I really shouldn’t have to worry about smog laws since this state doesn’t haven any. Also does not having a catalyst make the any difference to performance?

Don't bother with the cat. You couldn't pass CA emissions with it even if you did have to go back and get it smogged in CA. You would have to get an OEM cat to do that anyway.

I had a midpipe and Racing Beat v2 software for no cat and I gained 12 horsepower at about 9000 RPM. Since I didn't want to frequently hit the modified rev limit of 9300, I went back to stock. Sounds wimpy but I also didn't like the smell from not having a cat.

The only real reasons to chose the cat option, as I did, are: 1) It significantly reduces the smell of exhaust gases 2) It reduces the level of toxic gas output

When chosing this option, though, you need to ensure that your ignition components are in tip-top shape and keep them that way.

About a week and a half for me. Nothing to panic about yet.

Have you contacted Charles to request an update? He is an extremely approachable guy that treats his customers well. He will be able to tell you exactly what's going on with it and what delay exists, if there is one. He won't play you wrong.

It took a few weeks for for mine but I had the catalyst added which may have added sime time. As Pearl said, email Charles to find out - just be respectful

RIWWP I know for sure you and Mr. Hill are a well respected guys in this RX8 forums. And me a totally new guy coming in and making complaints doesn't look good. But here i can upload some of my emails for you to see. Please look at the dates, I dont want to be a bad customer or anything. If he forgot to ship it, thats fine I understand, just let me know that you forgot. Everyone makes mistakes. I wish he would just communicate with me, thats all. And to @archwisp, I didn't add catalyst. Like I said before I dont want to be a bad customer because I plan on getting the BHR Ignition System later on.

Just a reminder, but he is more or less on the west coast, so expect replies later in the day. When I had a question, I would expect 24-48 hours before a reply.

His phone number should be on your receipt if I recall. I haven't ordered anything from him in a while, since i had to sell my RX-8 2 years ago.

I double checked, there is a invoice and transaction numbers. But no phone number, email is visible. Sorry for the whole panic mode RX8 family but my baby needs to breath properly. Thanks

I want to thank everyone that responded to my post, Especially RIWWP. I finally got Shipping confirmation and tracking number. I guess the little guys have to do a little shouting to get the big guys attention. RIWWP, Im a huge fan of yours. I read your post of "New and Potential Owners START HERE!" before I bought my car. Excellent excellent work. But stop me if Im wrong guys, 2 weeks handling an item before shipping out, when checkout say 5-7 days to arrive(in state). It really doesn't matter now but I wish he would have communicated with me and let me know that it will take so long, I would have been like "sure no problem, thanks for letting me know". Anyway I still have the utmost respect for Mr. Hill. Again thank you all.

Yup, we have no problem with people speaking up when they need to be heard, especially when it comes to our vendors. There are a few reasonable causes for the delay that I can easily see might be the case here, but yes you need to be kept informed.

Glad you got your tracking.

I would like to thank Mr. Hill for the explanation and apology accepted 100%. I am thrilled to hear business is doing well, and hopefully you can get some relaxation from work. Also delighted to hear about BHR Shop, hopefully you can expand to Florida. As a sidetrack I'm still waiting on the delivery for my midpipe, (not your fault) but I guess my luck is kicking in again lol. I did call USPS and the customer service representative said to me "this looks weird", and she did open an investigation case for me. All I can do right now is stay positive and hope for the best that it will arrive today which is Saturday 7, 2015. Because I know they will not come on Sunday and I will have to wait till Monday which is a work day. Hope everyone else is doing well and their 8's. Thanks again Mr. Hill

I have a similar story to bmannie5851, although with a positive twist. I ordered a standard midpipe around the same date, hoping it would make it on the 6th, so I could install it before my first track day of the season on the 7th. USPS showed it would arrive on time, but due to freak Dallas weather, it was a day late. That's fine. Whatever. I went to the track without it (as I have done 20+ something times), and the cold weather prevented me from pushing the car to its limits anyway. When I examined the box this morning as I went to install it, I discovered BHR paid nearly $90 shipping trying to get it to me on time. Who does that? Answer: nobody.

I have been extremely happy with my BHR ignition kit and hope to feel the same way about the midpipe once I have a chance to stretch its legs.

The only complaint I can muster about BHR at this point is that I have a lonely BHR monkey that was hoping for a mate, and all he got was a lanyard thingy that is coming up way short in the middle of the night. I need better ear plugs. Are you listening, Charles?

@stvnscott, glad to hear you got your midpipe. Track day, that sounds like a lot fun. But their was a delay with mine. Hoping and praying that it will arrive tomorrow, because I ready to stop waking up in the morning thinking to myself "will it come today?".

Well I got my BHR midpipe w/o cat and I love it . No more check engine light and it does have a slightly deeper tone. Highly recomend this product.

Now if only they had BHR catback exhuast to go with it, now that would be prefect . lol

Don't be surprised if you get a CEL in a few weeks.
Mine didn't for a few weeks, then it came on every several days, now back to a couple of weeks apart.

Ain't success a bitch? LOL

Just got home, after so long of waiting, midpipe arrives. Just to find box with a hole and couple of screws missings. Who can I thank for this? I give up.

Bummer.

My box was pretty torn up too, and as a result, I lost my stickers.

But, my hardware was securely taped to the pipe.

The 2 bolts you are missing are stainless grade 8.8, and you can buy them at any auto parts or hardware store.
