I got a note from the PO that someones came back with bad address. I don't know who it is until I go over there, but if you haven't recieved yours and you are domestic let me know who you are.

Anyone having a problem with reverse can file a little champher on the edge that goes under the lockout plate. Doesn't take much, just a little help to clear the edge when you push down on it.
This is due to the tolerence Mazda has on the hieght of the shifting tower. If it is a little low then you'll have this problem. Turns out that Mazda makes three part numbers of this part. The difference is in how high it is, there are three letter numbers stamped on these. At the factory they match shifter tolerence to the tower. This keeps them from having to scrap parts.
As you can see from the 60 shifters we have here that so far we have only 2 that need a little tuning.
There has been one that was so far out of tolerence that I had to remachine the tab 2mm lower. That was Spice Boys. His must have been one of the letter towers. It is the only one ever to be that way. It was then that Gomez looked it up and found out about the three different part numbers.
Richard, just for clarification, the chamfer is at the top/end of the lock out tab? Or just the top? Haven't done mine yet but just want to be ready in case.

It probably will be just fine. But if you must, just the edge where it contacts the plate. If you try and shift with the consol off you will see what happens. If it does happen just file the sharp edge down to a champher. I mean small, like 1/16 inch at 30 to 40 degree angle. Nothing more, don't touch the top of the tang further back then 1/8 inch at most. The tab surface should stay the way it is.

If it does not work with that little filing then you could be in Spice Boy terratory. That is you have a special shift tower that requires a machine cut across the tab. That should be done back here or at a good machine shop.
The likelyhood of this happening is nil, as in about 450 shifters there has been only one.

Mine arrived Friday afternoon. Installed Saturday morning. Been loving it ever since - I think it makes the stock shifter feel sloppy and loose in comparison.
It took me about half an hour to install, but about half of that was spent trying not to break the tab on the shifter cover. Finally got frustrated and just yanked it off. Still didn't break the tab.

Received and installed shifter last Tuesday with Voodoo Magnum ****. Perfect!! No issues. As has been said before, this shifter should be your first Mod. A huge improvement over stock. Great product, Richard!!

How many do short shifters do you keep on hand. I went to the inaugural montly meet of the GA RX8 Club and showed off my new short shifter. I know of atleast 2 guys that want it for their car, and pretty badly I might say in one's case. All but one person really liked the feel. They are wondering how long it will take for you to ship now that you just sold so many if they place the order.

Well, got my shifter today. Am I the first one from Canada?

Too bad I can't install it today. I'll be gone for a couple of weeks so I won't get a chance to install it until we come back from our vacation. They say, good things come to those who wait...

Still no trace of mine.
I get all excited to check the mail every day. The stories from everybody else are killing me.

But, since it's pretty hard to get further away from RP and still be in North America, I'm probably destined to get mine last....

There's always Newfoundland. I've raced both places, Halifax and St Johns.
Very far away for me, towing an enclosed 2 car trailer with a motorhome.
Real hard to turn around in the ferry. Had to do it with jacks.

Well, yeah, Newfoundland is a bit further, but not much.
Good to see somebody knows where I am.

When/where/what did you race?

But, in brighter news, I got home last night to a delivery notice telling me to drop by the post office for a package. This is the only thing I'm expecting, so I assume it's my shifter. Will find out on the way home from the office tonight.

Woohoo.
Picked mine up at the post office today.
That's one Canadian delivery.

Cost me $21 in taxes, but I don't care. Happy to have it. Build quality looks really nice.

got it. The shifts are shorter and quicker. Installtion is a breeze.

Does the shift effort level drop as the shifter gets more use?

I think it does. When I first installed mine it was pretty stiff, but not that I've used it for a week or so it really feels great. I don't know if its just because I'm used to it now or if it actually softened up, but I love how it is now.
