Unexpected misfires and trouble maintaining consistent power through the entire RPM band.

The OP of this thread came by today and I saw his car, he actually bought a new igniter off ebay and relocated it by the master cylinder.

Problem solved from what he has informed me.

the fuel pump sock filter isn't listed for the RX-8 so it's likely that it's the same part from an earlier model Mazda

this is the fuel pump sock filter part for the FD3, I suspect it may be the same, but don't take my word on it:

Part No: JE17-13-ZE1, retail price is about $36 through a dealer

as for the ignition ground, run it directly to the negative battery terminal

The coil, if its bad (from what iv heard) should have some sort of white stuff around the casing. (again from what ive heard) Its most likely to be your ignition box.

You can purchase another one on EBAY for 100.00 bucks.
as for coils they are bosch coils. they can be purchased to if you need them.

When you order a new box, it comes with a wire harness. I used that harness and remade the one that mazsport gives you.

This didnt take long to make the harness if your good at soldering, and using heat shrink.

This allowed the coil packs to be open little more and not jamming the wires up under the throttle body.

it's nice, and now i am running into another problem where L1 doens't get sparks.
i think it's the ignitor now, but i will find out since brice does the inpection for me toward the ignitor and harness, but i am preety sure it's the ignitor.
Z0oMzo0m, does the new box from ebay have the same connection as mazsport one?

The wire harness that comes with the ignitor doesnt have the grey clips from stock coils, But the 2 plugs will be the same from, the ignitor side . So if your just changing the ignitor then yes it will plug right it.

If you order a new ignitor, it comes with a new harness. The only thing you will have to do is solder the grey clips on.

Worth doing for 100.00 bucks
