are aftermarket clutches interchangable

maybe im retarded for asking but im wondering if i can put in an exedy stage 2 or maybe a 6 puck disk in my exedy stage 1 clutch kit. im being cheap i dont want to buy the entire kit. Am i an idiot? or a smart jew?? LOL thanks for any replys
