From who do you want updates? Everyone pissed off AEM Tech with negative vibes, so I doubt he will be posting and I can't tell you anything. At best I am guessing several weeks before production, and thats if they actually go ahead with it.

I was just wondering if you have gotten any updates from AEM..

and as to Ben being pissed off........i think he shouldnt be.... he is doing business....i think its perfectly natural that us consumers have lots of our opinions (good or bad) that we want our "suppliers" to know.... they have to be open to ideas and critisms....

Well there you go... I don't have any updates and don't expect any.

As for Ben not posting. Have you read the thread from the beginning? I agree with you that it's good for us to voice our opinions. However there is a right way and a wrong way. I think you will probably agree that some of it comes across as very negative and not at all constructive.

That said there are also people who are genuinely interested, it's a shame that there are always a few that spoil it.

On the whole, I don't think AEM's future will be effected if they do not bring out an Intake, which from my impression may well be the case. In this I take my hat off to them, if it's not giving good enough gains, they taking the stance of not making it is a good one in my book.

While I do encourage companies to produce good products, if they can't take criticism, they shouldn't be in business. It comes with the job. There are always people who like your products and will believe anything they hear and then there are others who are sceptics. In today's overly saturated market of snake oil products, everyone should expect some scepticism. It is unfortunate. My view is that if they are truly developing a good unique product, they have nothing to be ashamed of and shouldn't worry about criticism since the results will speak for themselves. If they are just jumping on the bandwagon and doing the same thing as everyone else, I fully expect them to not update since no one will endorse it. So which one is it here? Is it typical lookalike bs crap or is it a different and functional product? As far as I'm concerned if someone gives into the pressure of the sceptics then they didn't have anything worth looking at in the first place. A truly successful business person won't let the sceptics affect them.

Well there you go...

Yeah I agree with all that... but. Ben is not exactly the owner of the company. So as an employee, if I were in his shoes and trying to get a decent intake out there, I would probably get hacked off with the negative input. Heck I was even hesitant to post my feedback given the things folks were saying and stated so because in the general scheme of things, so what. I wouldn't imagine it really bothers Ben either way if the intake gets made or not, but he may have been in our corner more if you could report back to the company that he had an enthusiastic potential customer base out there instead of all the jaded... why bother it's just going to be a filter on a pipe style remarks.

Anyway I think enough has been said on the subject and there will be no more updates from me since I don't have any.

Its now time to wait and see what AEM do.

I think those remarks should have done nothing but reinforce the fact that there is an enthusiastic customer base out there for real performance products. And if the intake design AEM was working on met that standard, then they should have been psyched to know that there were a whole lot of people who were going to be excited about AEM's product, as opposed to hacked off at our "jaded" remarks.

A little forum flaming wouldnt cause a lack of updates. If they had visited ANY car forum out there they would have seen this happen time and time again. Some of those posting negative stuff might not evenc are! You have to have thicker skin than that. Hell, I dont sell anything and I receive my share of negative stuff.

Anyway, I hope they make something more functional than what is out there.

Thanks Ashmason.

My skin is thicker than a gator. I've been doing this for some time now, and this application is taking a lot of R&D. There are plenty of new processes that AEM is going through just for the possibility of producing this intake.

With that said, I still need a 6MT for final numbers for 4 days. If anyone is interested drop me a line.

Ashmason said they would need a MT RX-8 to test on, so I e-mailed them for details (as I apparently live near the shop), but they never e-mailed me back.

They just e-mailed me today. Said it would take 3 days. I thought since they already did Ashmason's already, it'd be shorter (which it is). I need to discuss it with the girlfriend, then call AEM...

I'll be in the same position as Ashmason, though, since insurance doesn't allow me to be in the shop.

Does this mean you have an idea of when you will be releasing the intake for sale? Can you give us some tidbits such as final decision on how you addressed the sound, rough HP/Torque gains etc?
