Engine looks like it fits nice, tight, but nice. No tranny in yet, what will you be using?

The TRD guys then cried foul and accused Ari of running drag slicks rather than DOT drag tires. When he got back around, they all saw his tires were fine and they just shut up. They made excuses for the loss of course.

Ari was running a stock ported Mazda remanufactured motor! It was controlled by a Haltech and I believe had a Greddy T-76 turbo. He was running 26 lbs of boost and a 75 shot of nitrous. He was then allowed to do an exhibition run to see if he could hit the 9's. I saw him literally pull a sandbag out of the spare tire well! He also changed the nitrous shot from progressive to full hit. He ran a 9.5X something. First time in the 9's and it was on an internally stock motor! That's what fantastic tuning can do.

Go find better rotary guys to watch! Some of the world's fastest rotaries are also the worlds most amazingly improvised piles of junk. I have no idea how they can get some of that crap moving so fast! When you are pushing the limits of anything, it doesn't take much to get a failure. My friend Marcus used to have a half bridgeported twin T03/04 turbo methanol powered 3rd gen tube frame drag car. On 2 occasions he had an injector stick. When you are making over 700 hp, that's distrous. He pushed the limits and often found it. He killed 2 engines without ever getting a pass down the track. He needed larger or more injectors. Detonation killed it and that's the rotary's biggest enemy and responsible for most failures.

I have seen most of the big guys run at SAR. Acosta, etc. I know these vehicles push the limits but it would be nice to see a race without someone breaking down and dumping oil allover the track. I hate waiting for cleanups.

I guess nothing is perfect after all.... you should go to Puerto Rico. 90% of the fastest imports are rotaries. and they are all pretty fast.

Sucks, I spent a ton of time in PR when I was in the service and never got to the races (too busy slappin' *** and getting drunk).

As a former owner of a 95 TT Supra and the current owner of an 06 Copper Shinka with MS kit, I'm reading these threads with interest. I'd love to see a stock 2JZ in an RX8, with the sequential turbos doing their thing with no lag. A clean exhaust alone nets 50-60 flywheel hp on top of the stock 320.

I did the simple upgrades and had around 480 rwhp and never had a hiccup. No CELs, no overheating, no issues ever. There was no lag at all. The guy who bought the Supra from me immediately put in the single turbo and has 1000 hp and runs 9's. I was never into that, but if you want to run the qtr and turn your vehicle into a race car, that is the way to go, I guess. For a daily driver, a 500 plus hp Supra is a great vehicle with almost no flaws. Unfortunately, there are not many out there and the prices continue to rise. I bought mine for 30, drove it three years and sold it for 30. Now, it's worth 35+.

As for the RX8, I do love it, especially since I can zip around with my four year old twins in the back (too much work in the 2+2 Supra). Of course, I'd love to have 80 rwhp, but without CELS, etc. It appears that options are coming soon. A 2JZ RX8 would be a blast if balance issues are worked out and everything worked perfectly. Time will tell.

Any plans to build a stock 2JZ version?

Gentlemen,
I mean no disrespect to the rotary community when I say this, but all the bad mouthing of the 2JZ is kinda funny considering we get about 20 - 25 emails a day from the S2000, Civic, 240sx, 944 Porsche guys and not to mention the 6-8 emails a day from the RX7 and RX8 guys all wanting the 2JZ installed. Must not be too bad of an engine.

BTW you must be a millionare with all those swaps.. No disrispects, only defending my believes.

There's always different options. Not saying it's a bad engine. It is more of a fad engine than many others though. Don't be too quick to give people too much credit. I don't. Most people aren't that smart. Aside from looking pretty, I can't think of a single thing that engine would do that an LS1 couldn't do better in a transplant.

Did anyone see the video of the C5 Corvette with twin rear mounted turbos and a diesel engine? Interesting. A Vette shouldn't sound like it's going to fall apart. Tons of torque though.

I admit that I do love diesels but they've got to be foreign diesels and not the loud rattling engines we have here. The concept is awesome.

On the topic of swaps... it would be great if someday you guys did an 8 with an EJ20(WRX). I use to have a WRX, and I loved the motor it had. I actually have an EJ20 sitting in my garage. I would love to try and swap it in, but being that my 8 is my only driver, I couldn't afford to have it not running while I try to figure things out.

^well, judging by the lack of "it's finished!" posts, I would have to guess that the OP realized what a cosmic retard he was and gave up. Not a bad course of action.
