It was rained out anyway. Just found out my weekends are going to suck even more. The company has decided to require managers to work fri, sat and sun on the 1st and 3rd weekend of each month. They think if managers are in the stores on payday weekends the sales will be higher.

Hello All,
I'm arranging a private track day if anyone is interested. Love to see more Mazdas there.

Still having issues with starting and running. Seems to run not too bad but I think I may have compression issue. Thinking of replacing coils, wire and plugs.

If I remember correctly, Jose said you were still on the original engine, if that's the case compression could very likely be your issue.

Can you describe the problems you're having in a little more detail?

I have a code scanner and it gives me a couple of sensor issues. I may need to clean the sensors or replace them.

I have a lot of miles on the engine, all original so i am sure there are some issues, just wish I could get someone to look at it from a research standpoint to see how it survived this long with no major issues.

I dont drive it everyday or hardly at all anymore.

Post the codes here.

If you need help checking everything out just let me know, I can lend a hand and know my way around the RX-8 pretty damn well.

Maybe if you have time one weekend or evening if you wanted to stop by and take a peek feel free. I am up in Wesley Chapel around Wharton High School. I would offer to drive to you but would be afraid I wouldnt make it.

I live in Meadow Pointe so at most I'm probably like 5 minutes away, let me know when you're free and we'll figure something out.

this actually may start causing more problems.

You have to drive it man.... drive it hard if you only drive it a little bit.

onto the current issue you actually have. What sensor codes are you getting? perhaps we have some parts laying around to help out. or we can tell you what to get off the bat before we all meet up.

Crankshaft Positioner Sensor has been one of them. What does that mean?

It's the sensor sensor that detects the position of the crankshaft/ Eccentric Shaft of the engine. I gets pretty dirty sometimes, it's magnetic so small metal particles stick to it and interrupt the signal, I would start by cleaning it. It's located on the front of the engine just to the right of the Eccentric Shaft.

What other codes appear? If you can, post them all here, so we know what we're looking for.

If the two fixes they suggested don't work. I would hate to say a compression test might be in your future.

a couple things to note. After cleaning the sensor you will have to have 2 to 3 drive cycles after resetting the ecu before the car will react properly

I haven't really had time to mess with it.

I start it and drive it a bit but that's about it.

I had it for sale last month. Lots of calls but no takers. I think the mileage scares people away and I dont blame them. This car is for rotorheads looking for a project.
