Bobby, thanks for keeping the posts up on this side of the RX world. We're gonna work out the details for the GRR-2004 this Saturday and will post the announcement on Sunday concerning what will happen at this first event.

I saw that you mentioned that you've been without your car for more than a week. I hope it was nothing serious. See you Saturday.

Thought i would bring this on over here. GRR Information:

GTUser:
As for the Grand Rotary Rally of the NC it will be held at Dave's spread on Saturday, 11/13 beginning at 3:00 PM. So far we will be doing some car judging, everyone clean'em up, some back road driving and havigating, some eating, taking pictures early and finally getting info on everyone that has been to a drive-in so that everyone can get your name, face, car and forum name straight, and we'll have a scavenger hunt and will have drawings for prizes

We really need everyone that has been a part of the drive-ins this summer to plan and make a real effort to join us at the GRR of NC on this day. It will be our normal drive-in date we'r ejust gonna start it early an at an alternate location.

I need everyone that has indicated a willingness to step up and assist with the event, shirt and logo design, providing good sources for food and drink (soft only, since this is an event you will be driving to and from and during). It looks like it will be $10 and the donation of a item that anyone else could use on their car for the door prizes to be given away. For guys driving in from out of town or out of state we will provide driving directions to the GRR site and we'll help the military guys with lodging in the area.

If I've overlooked or not mentioned something you're interested in or need to know, or if anyone has any suggestions please post'em here.

ouch!!! That must have hurt. I just posted a new thread on the GRR. We're still working out the details but from the feedback at the drive-in on Saturday it appears that we should have a pretty good turnout. We had 3 new 8 owners at the drive-in, and all the cars were blue.

If you can get the rotor emblem from your old front spoiler bring it to the GRR and we'll auction it off.

Missed you this weekend, of course, seeing the other RX8s there may have been too much for you. It was probably better that you refrained, I would've hated to see a grown man cry in public.

Bert found some lodging for any out of towners that wish to attend! Who all is planning on coming?

Bert (GTUser):
I just found that there is a Holiday Inn Express in Creedmoor and is probably the closest hotel to the rally location. I have called them and they will give all GRR participants a special room rate of $63/night. See pictures below for Holiday Inn Express.

That is the closest hotel, but there is also a Comfort Inn with rates of $55 - $60/night.

What is the N.C. GRR? I'm from Winston Salem, NC and would be interested in any event that might be happening nearby. Also, Has anyone else heard that "mischief" is going to be in Winston Salem on Friday November 12?

GRR of NC Update

Just an update on the GRR. So far we have 31 rotarians committed to making the first ever rotary gathering in NC a good start. It appears that with the support of the RX8 community that we should have at least 40 people and cars present for the GRR of NC. The cost is $10 for food and down payment on a GRR shirt and also bring a small rotary related door prize that could be used by another rotary owner. We'll do a gift exchange by drawing names and presenting our token to another member of the Rotarian Brotherhood.

Yes. Today was awesome! Previewing the images now. Will post soon . It was a great turnout and the food was good. Next time ill show up on time though :D .

We traveled a ways together didn't we james! I actually missed my exit...twice... and ended up further down on I40 than I would have liked to have been. It was all good though. Glad I knew that area (after we got to 85 that is)!

Thanks guys for coming out and supporting the GRR, I had a great time and it was fantastics to see those new, beautiful 8s parked along the driveway when I got there. All we can do is keep getting the word out and inviting owners to show up. If we need to change the drive-in times to get more participation from the 8 crowd just let me know. We could try meeting in the afternoons during the winter months to give us more daylight and try the alternate times to see if more people could come out, maybe even change from Saturdays to Sunday afternoons. What do y'all think? I am open for ideas. Also, do you think Capital Mazda in Cary or Al Smith in Raleigh would help get the word out for RX8 owners. Maybe even offer a discount on parts and labor for Raleigh Drive-In members in an effort to support and grow the membership?

I'll be posting my pics tonight and I think Rotofire will also have some pics posted soon. I copied the link to your pics Bobby and will post it over on the 7 club for those guys to view. Great Job! and thanks for coming out on Saturday.

Keep your Rotors Spinning,

Bert
