We all know you made the right decision. Your daughter is more important than just about anything else.

Than anything else .

However, at Rockingham, who is coming? I may actually do this event, after swearing I wouldn't go back. I will also be at CMP in two weeks, for 3 days. For those of you who are solo'd, I will be willing to back you if you want to come down on Friday (if they do this again this year) for open-track time. Like Talladega, just solo drivers on track, no sessions, wait, no one session 8 hours long .

I might be interested in a one day Friday deal @ CMP. How much would it cost?

Trackaddict -

I am sorry that you seem to have taken my jest as a cut. I know WhiteRex personally and am mightily impressed with his driving skills and person in general. I was merely making light of the nickname Late Apex, and how it applies to driving, and etc. It was intended as a joke, not as a serious comment (i.e. - the many rofl smiley faces attached should have implicated).

As for my qualifications - no, I was NOT there. I have ice-raced, autocrossed, and raced in the Fur Rondevous Grand Prix in Alaska for many years, but have not yet had the pleasure of running at Roebling. I admire and am slightly jealous of those that have. I look forward to the time when I can run there too.

I trust that WhiteRex was quick, capable, and got every millimeter of performance out of his car. He is a serious and capable driver, and a dandy human being, and I have nothing but respect for him.

Excellent - thanks for the explanation. Whiterex is a good guy and I enjoyed meeting him. Same goes for L8APEX who I have known for a year now. Maybe I am a bit protective of my friends.

Hope you make it out to join us at some events this year. As you probably know, it is such awesome fun. All you have to do is read the posts to feel the excitement we are experiencing both pre and post event.

Glad I am not the only one with still a buzz in there head from this weekend. I actually had a dream last night that I was still in my car at Roebling. Man am I addicted. And my instructor was so good with how and when he explained everything, and so positive that I am going to ask for him on the next event. Hopefully, he brings his 240Z (if you haven't seen pictures of it go to Ballanced Performance web site and droll over it) next time and I can get a ride in that machine.

Video from Roebling

Here is a quick video of a few laps. Lap times are approx high 1:29 - low 1:30s. The server is a bit slow so your best bet is to right click and save.

Video

Some things to notice - watch my hands on the wheel. I am making a lot of small adjustments as the car rotates through the corners. My RA1s squeal a bit when on the ragged edge in turn 1. A car goes off exiting turn 5 right before I get there leaving a nice dust cloud. You don't see the car, just the dust.

Throughout my sessions, the car danced a lot under me. Throttle application and modulation was critical to keeping it pointed in the right direction with no DSC. The car is very prone to trailing throttle oversteer on corner entry. To keep it planted, she needs gas. Trail braking at Roebling is also not a good idea with the stock dampers. The track was quite greasy with ambient temps hovering around 100 degrees.

hey fellas. yes, I am alive, yes I made it back to ATL ok on Sunday, albeit a little earlier than planned. Sorry to all of you who had to get our space cleaned up Sunday, without my help on account of me leaving early. I will make it up at some point. I am dissapointed that I did not get to run my last two sessions.

It was a pleasure meeting the new folks, and seeing old friends. It is always a lot of fun. And it never get sold seeing a line of 8's in the paddock. I have a few pictures that I will post once they get developed. Hopefully by this weekend.

Looking forward to the next one...whenever that will be.

Skillmaker, no offense taken, I knew what you meant. You should definitely come to the next one, its an experience that can't be put into words. You know how serious I am about autocrossing... I'm seriously considering a track setup just to do this a couple of times a year and be outclassed in SM at our local autox events therest of the time. THAT's how much FUN it was.

I was going to anchor the backs to the seat back bolts. The lower parts were going to be bolted to the current seat belt bolts.

There are bolts for sale, to replace the ones holding the seat and or seatbelt anchor points down. These new bolts have an eyelet welded to the top of them. The lap belts can be attached to them, and I was planning on using the rear seat belt points too. If I ever get around to it... But I think I did better about not leaning this time out on track. But I need to review what little footage I have to be certain about that.

whiterex, glad to see that you enjoyed yourself. After your first session, I was afraid you weren't going to like tracking the 8. But as you now know, it is addictive.
