I didnt know I was beeping until I watched the video. My cue to brake was the beach approaching really fast!

All I have to say is that I still have a Track buzz in my head! I can't believe what a great weekend it was. By far my favorite part was Monday - giving everyone a ride in my car. And Lego is really on his way to becoming a excellent instructor! I made huge improvements in my driving around track with a few choice words from TrackAddict and Lego - I especially like when Lego and I where following the GT3 Cup in turn 7 and when we where exiting Lego said - "Now go get him!" - and I said "Yes sir!".

My friends took pictures of the entire event, but I will not see them until this weekend, so once I get some pictures - I will post them up.

I have signed up for my next event and wanted to see if any of you wanted to join me.

12 hours of open track at Sebring! Sebring is 3.7 mile track with 17 turns! And the way to get 4 to 5 hours of hot track time in one day is to drive with Chin Motorsports!

So if any of you want to join me - please let me know. There is already one RX8 signed up - someone from Florida.

Check it out:

Yea - I will be scratching NASA Roebling to go to Sebring. I will be staying at the track - they have a hotel there, and will have extra room for a few other people. Plus, I will be getting the room for free - so we could split the cost - nothing : )

I have already signed up for NASA Rockingham too.

Tentatively put me down for sharing the room. I'll check with the bosses (work & home) and see if I can pull this off.

EDIT:
Are you talking Aug 26 or Oct 7

I signed up for Oct 7th - I may sign up for the 8th too, but need to see how busy work gets to take the 9th off. Do you know the 8 showing up on the 7th (Miroslaw W.)?

Just when you thought you had enough video from me...

I post another

This is the entire second session from Sunday. It includes the short segment where I was following OD. As usual, your critiques are welcome. There is quite a bit of traffic in this video. It is soooo much fun being on track with a mix of cars.

The Scion was sponsored by Toyota and driven by Chris Rado (pro drag racer sponsored by Scion) and Vaughn Gittin, Jr(who won teh US vs Japan drift competition in his Falken sponsored Mustang). Neither had been on a road course before. The Scion tC had every possible mod including a huge turbo. It was way powerful. Since they had no road course experience they didn't exactly have the best lines but they were not afraid to drive the snot out of the Scion and we re able to make it work OK. At one point I was under the bridge on the back straight and I could see the Scion coming out of turn 7. I thought he blew his engine from all the blue smoke. I later realized it was tire smoke as he accelerated out of the corner.

Wow... that was intense. I thought you were going to eat OD's lunch going into turn 10a.

3rd session on Sunday. I was chasing Jim Ballard in his NSX. Very fun run, nothing too crazy since it was our last run of the weekend.

There is a funny bit at the very beginning comming out of 5 : You can hear my instructor laughing and getting excited about the chase that was about to begin. We both saw at the same time that Jim stepped on it to keep things interesting when he recognized me behind him..

It's my first In car Video so it's a bit ragged. I need to do something about the sound and you may want to turn it down as there is a lot of wind noise. ( I am looking at mics on ebay) Anyway, that's sorta what it looked like on board the ol' Stang @ speed

Comments and critiques are always welcome.

I saw that i was pulling Ta on the back straight and wanted to stay together--(it is so much more fun in traffic or running with someone than just running the line.). i knew with him taking that inside line on 7 to get around traffic that his exit speed would be down--but I didnt realize that I was going to pull that much on him(excellant example of what happens when turn 7 exit speed is dropped--look and learn guys) so I slowed a bit knowing TA would be hauling *** to catch me. He is a good driver and fun to run with. I backed off on the front straight to let him pass, so I could follow him for a while. I wanted to see how differant lines would affect how I gained on him or lost on him. We are pretty equal in cars and driving I think. It was a great oppotunity and a bunch of fun. Thanks TA for posting this vid.
My tires had picked up so much track rubber that they were out of balance! And i was running with full nanny mode on. I have to stop that. Maybe the next Roebling event I will learn how to do that!
Thanks again Coupon pants --that was a really great time.

TorqueAholic - either your car is vibrating like hell - or you need a new camera mount - hopefully it is the later of the two.

Cool video although.

TA - you haven't mentioned it, so I'll ask.....is the RB rear sway gone for good or is it going back on?

I think I am staying with stock for now. Although I did get understeer, I am prob gonna add a bit more front camber and leave the rear as is. With the stock rear bar, I felt more secure. I know the back was dancing a bit (according to you in turn 12) but it felt nicely planted. I had many instances where I felt it step around a bit but it never snapped on me. With the RB bar, I had many instances where the car would just slide out and be hard to catch. This weekend, it slid but would just take a little longer to take a set and giddy up on thru the corner.

The car is smooth, my homemade camera mount needs yet another re-design..

I am re-designing mine too, I am going to add some lateral support struts to mine. My original design was rushed last year, and has been used since, even though it is not the best. That vibration kills the video footage, I have lost some good track footage because of it. The camera mount is really important.

I'm with you, the design I am currently running is actually a version 3.0.. and it's the first one that provides watchable although shaky video. In this particular case though I think it somewhat enhances the illusion of speed

My next one will be square instead of triangular shaped and with 2 diagonal struts that go down to the seat mount to quell the up and down and side 2 side movements. This next design will then be triangulated on all 3 axis, we'll see.

That is the general theory I am using for my new one. Square aluminum tube, mounted to the rear deck of the car in the same three places it is now, and diagonal struts to the seat mounting bolts, since the seats will be out. It should work well.

Just in case anyone wonders if it rained!
This was a hell of a way to go for a first timer... Kevin driving my car!
And for those that were not there... yes... the windows are down!

Glad I was in class when this was going on, I'd have been a nervus wreck!
