Road Atlanta with BMWCCA Sept 22/23
Registration opened yesterday for the Peachtree BMWCCA event at Road Atlanta Sept 21 - 23. Right now it is open only to BMW club members. It opens for general registration on July 28. They sell out quickly so if you are interested, do it as soon as you can.
This event, unlike the other 2 they held at RA includes a club race. In an email I got, they announced that they will still do 4 run groups but there will be a little less track time. Because of that, registration fees are lower than normal (to reflect fewer run minutes. Member cost for Sat/Sun is $300 (non member is $340). Friday is $125 IIRC for approved drivers (instructors and approved solo advanced students only by invitation).
Hope to see some of my RX8 Club friends out there with me. I am only doing Sat/Sun this time.

What do you mean about fixing the track? It was repaved last December and then further enhanced by grinding down any new bumps that developed after resurfacing. It is the best it has ever been.

It may appear the grinding down is bad track. Just visually rough. Spin, we would still like for you to come down south sometime and join us. I know that will probably never happen but we would love to have you join in.

So what is left on the calendar for 2007?
August 11, 12 - Road Atlanta with NASA-SE - confirmed
Sept 22, 23 - Road Atlanta with Peactree BMWCCA - confirmed
Sept 29, 30 - Roebling Road with NASA-SE - confirmed
Oct 13, 14 - Barber with NASA-SE - confirmed
Nov 3, 4 - Barber with Audi Club - tentative
I wonder what I can find in late Nov/early December to hold me over until it cranks back up.
I wish I could do the Track Daze event at VIR on Aug 30, 31 and follow it up with the Mazda Drivers event there on Sept 1, 2 but the budget and work don't allow that.
I have a fresh set of rear pads on the car and can probably do RA on the existing fronts if I keep a close eye on them. They are about the thickness of the backing plate right now and may not make it the whole weekend. I do have a brand new set of front pads so I will either carry them to the track or swap them in on Friday morning. To maxime my new pads lives, I think I will use up old pads lying around for street duty at least until the Sept 22 event at RA.
My tires are so-so. I will get RA out of them next weekend but maybe not much more so I have another set on their way. I should have them at the end of the week. Those will get me through to next season.

We don't have hardly any info on it yet except for a date. I'll post up when they open registration or give out some more info.
But here is a link to the website.

Not yet. I need to talk with the BMW club. They are pretty strict on how they work so I will need advanced permission. I'll let ya know. If nothing else, I will be your official PoToHo!

How are your rotors holding up?
I'm tracking once every other month myself. I keep HP Plus pads on all the time, have about 10,000 miles on the daily driven car, and am now just developing a small lip on the rotors- very manageable.

I changed my rotors earlier this year at about 55K. I have had HP+ pads on the past 3 years and those were the original rotors. I had them turned and they are sitting home as spares. They had a pretty big lip but I didn't care since it was unswept area on the rotors. The spider cracks had become more worrisome though. The "new" rotors were not new ones either. They were take offs from a race RX8 with very little use on them.

At least I don't wear my helmet while mowing the lawn like some people I know...
Actually I made the TTD panel and NASA Pro Racing sticker on a magnet thing and was trying them on for size. I thought it looked good so I snapped a picture or 5. I need some more stickers for the side of the car though before I can enter my next Nascar race. Maybe Crane Cams will sponsor me...

lol, I am surprised that you dont' have "Road Atlanta TTD lap Record Holder" in your sig yet, or are you waiting until you can add "Roebling Road TTD lap Record Holder" too.
