Just ordered mine!

SO I got an email from Gunther Mazda today saying how if I closed today and took the car he could offer me great pricing. I take off early from work, go by, and it wasnt true. He could get me a car that wasnt red or yellow in 5 weeks, or a red or yellow in 3 to 4 weeks. The price is right on and the guys at Gunther are very nice, but their delivery time is still sucking. SO I stopped by Acardi Mazda since they arent too far away. Walk in and see the car for the first time (they have 4 on the lot that arent sold yet if anybody is looking). I saw a light silver, dark gray, black and yellow. The yellow I didnt like at all. Light silver neither. Black looked nice, but I actually liked the dark gray a LOT more once I saw it in person. The one he had was almost what I wanted, but I really dont want the sunroof personally. So he checks, and he has one already on the way. ETA? About 2 weeks.

So I BOUGHT IT! YAY! 2 weeks! that are gonna be sheer hell, especially since I took one of the cars he had on the lot out for a spin and MAN is that thing fun. I dont care about the numbers, when you crank that engine and go it just takes you to a different driving place. A good place :D

Edit: Forogt to add, dont buy the yellow since thats what is being used for test drives, and I didnt rev it past 7K, but Tom sure as hell did redline it to let me hear the warning beep.

My name is Yuri, and I'm a RX8-holic.

If anybody goes to Acardi, talk to Tom. Big croatian SOB, tell him Yuri sent you. Maybe if enough people go I can get a discount :D

Hey Yuri, what time did you stop by the Acardi dealership. I was also there with my mother ordering a winning blue automatic. You wouldn't happen to have been wearing glasses and checking out the engine with it's engine cover off would you? Congrats on the order by the way. They really are friendly people.

Edit: Seeing as we both went to the dealership, here's my thought and everything from another thread:

Went back to Eddie Accardi Mazda of Pompano today. They have been really umm consistent (persistent perhaps?) with keeping in touch with me. I visited them last week Friday, and then again with my mother on Sunday evening. Basically, I just wanted to show my mother how the car looks and why I love it myself. She was stoked to see the car in person and asked the salesguy about ordering an RX-8. Well, we went through the ordering process today and she put a deposit down for a Winning Blue AT with about as basic as she can get it.

Meanwhile, I was outside just looking at the other colors that I hadn't seen before (Brilliant Black, Titanium Grey, and Lightning Yellow) and this lady has just got done test driving the yellow RX-8. I asked her how she liked the car and she was pretty enthusiastic about it as she looked at the other RX-8s in the lot. I started talking to her about the cars and she seemed surprised that some 20 yr old knew alot more about these cars than some of the salesmen themselves. I let her know that it just comes from doing research online and particularly this forum.

Anyhow, after my mother put down a deposit and did all the preliminary paperworks for her order, I asked the salesman if there was a chance that maybe I could test drive an RX-8 6MT and just see how it feels. He gladly said yes and we were on our way. He took it for a spin to a side street about a mile or two away and then let me take over the pilot controls (I say that because it just feels like a cockpit for me like the FC did). Keep in mind, this was maybe the third chance I had to practice driving stick and the first time I took it out on a main highway (US1). I'm not going to be playing the fool and act all cool like an immature young adult might do when he gets his hands on the car he loves. Although, I was a little bit nervous I handled it pretty well. The car shifts effortlessly with the exception of a CHIRP from 1st to 2nd gear. That was totally unexpected but fun nonetheless. About the headroom, I'm 6'0 tall and had about 1-2 inches worth in the car with moonroof. Shoot, I don't think I even had that much in my FC Vert.

The ironic thing is, since I no longer have a car... My mother is giving me her Ford Windstar and getting herself an RX-8. Now, shouldn't it be the other way around? Ah well, I'm not complaining. She will be expecting the arrival of her RX-8 sometime in 8-12 weeks, which is fine because we're also moving to another place in the meantime. And then I'll also be moving out on my own in February of next year, so I can use the van to load up my junk.

Yes indeed, that was me! After I finished the order the salesguy took me out in the yellow one that was in the lot. I hate to say it but I wasnt paying too much attention to the other people in the dealership, on what side where you? At that table next to the rx8 or on the other side?

I was at the table in the middle right when you walk into the showroom. The table was to the front-driver side of the car where my mother was getting her order taken down on the Winning Blue by two salesguys. I came around to check out the car and see if perhaps you were maybe a member of the forum... but you looked too excited to look around you hahaha. I had originally wanted the yellow one before I seen how it looked in person. Wouldn't you agree that the yellow was a bit too banana-ish?

Damn dude, ya shoulda spoken up :D Then we would been there chatting for hours, but it's all good.

And yes, I had thought about yellow at several points in time, but when I saw the one on the lot I was very disapointed with it. I saw it and thought baby yellow on a car? UGH!

Then again, Titanium wont get me pulled over as much either :D

The titanium one looks great. Me and my mother stopped by again yesterday to drop off the deposit and I took yet another chance to sit in the car. I just felt right at home with the car, although I don't want a moonroof either. After seeing almost all the colors in person, largely thanks to Accardi Mazda... I've changed my mind from yellow to black. The car looks outstanding in black the more I see it. I plan on getting an RX-8 next year for myself. I got my mother interested in the RX-8, it was a bit of a tough task because of the whole rotary engine ordeal and the misconception.

Seeing the yellow one again.. it doesn't look THAT bad, but IMHO it would be more suited for a chick to drive in that color.
