The Toyos are a world apart. Lateral grip is supremely better. They are not nearly as noisy going around corners but tehy communicate very well through the steering wheel. I can tell when I am approaching their grip limits in long sweepers. I find they make the car a completely differnt beast. I had much more confidence and sense of seurity with no DSC running the R compounds and would highly recommend the RA1s.
Lego has run pure race slicks. I have not. As I understand, non-DOT tires grip grip grip then give away with no warning. The Toyos communicate well and that is important. Hope this helps...

BlueRen... I'm a newbie to tracking. I'm sticking with OEMs until I start understanding what goes on with my car on the track. I want more than anything to learn how to control my car and the driver instead of being the fastest person on the track.
I bought a set of Potenzas for $100 ea. still with a slight hint of the nipples left. Awesome deal on ebay. The tires normally sell in the $230 range. I will use those for daily drivers and use my worn out Potenzas for the track mounted on another set of wheels.

You guys enjoy. I used to do motorcycle track days out there and I HATE that course. Its narrow as hell. I personally would not take my 8 there. The track is going rip your tires apart too. I used to go through a set of tires a day there on the bike...the asphalt is very harsh on tires. Maybe I am spoiled by riding Road Atlanta and Barber Motorsports, but that track is not fast and very short. Motorcycles typically run about 1 minute laps there in the intermediate-expert group. I know guys who turn under 1 minute lap times there. when you see the track, you'll know what I mean..it looks like some guys just decided to pave a road in their back yard.

I am probably more addicted to track time than anyone else here. I have easily 20+ track days under my belt on my bike, but given the choice between track time on my bike at TGPR or sitting on my *** at home, I'd choose sitting on my ***. I hope everyone has fun, I am just saying that while it looks good online, I honestly think its pretty pathetic in person. The track is the most narrow course that WERA (motorcycle racing league) use...if its narrow by motorcycle standards, imagine how it is for cars. On a wide track like RA, if you over shoot an apex and go wide, you still have pavement...at GPR, you're off the track. Again, this is just my opinion, but I am just giving a heads up to people. I don't wanna scare anyone off from not going, but I don't want someone's experience on this course to shy them away from other tracks.

It is not Road A, but it is bigger than a parking lot with cones setup, which, is where most of these guys run. Also, the course has some good characteristics for learning the basics. So, in perspective, it is a great, cheap, chance to get your jollies out till we can get to a big track.
SOOO, sit on your *** if you choose, but for me, I don't get better eating Cheetos and saying I am addicted. I get better by getting my candy *** out on the track no matter what track it is
. You don't have to go to Road A to learn anything.
Oh, and BTW, last time I was there, I turned lap times faster than the 1000cc Wera guys that were there the day before. Not under a minute, but, they left the time sheets up from the event the day before. Yes, it was the advanced group too. However, that was no feat, several of the 600 bikes were faster than the 1000cc guys, but saying you outran a 600 doesn't sound as good. FWIW, I am just getting started in WERA, hoping to catch some events near the end of the year, but my abilities are much better in a car.

Hah.. No seriously..everyone should still go. Just don't let TGPR influence what you think a real track day or track should be like. Too bad we couldnt get into Barber Motorsports Park ...that track is beyond sick. Just thinking about it makes me...uh oh...

The folks over at Barber like their track a lot too, and have very heavy penalties for things, like tire tracks in their grass. I think they must get their sod imported from a brazillian soccer teams playing field, or maybe Pebble Beach.
