It's working fine. What username did you use for registering? Just let me know what username you use and I'll follow up to make sure you are accepted today. Sign up again please. This is important because of the way we manage the new users. For every legit user singing in we get at least 300 bots. This has caused us to manage it by hand and more of an invitation method. So you requesting to get on is the best way to get in. Sorry you had a problem with registering but now I will make sure it is taken care of.
Thanks for your interest,
Don

Welcome aboard GARX8CLUB.COM
Let me know if you need any help or direction. See you online. We do have a couple events coming up. November and the December at Road Atlanta with NASA-SE is our biggest event of the year. If you would like to join in, just go to the "Events - Driving" section. You can come out see what's up and meet some of the gang if you like. Us instructor types like to give rides so if you are into a 20 min. session on one of the worlds finest race tracks, you will have a blast! We know how to have fun, that is guaranteed :D

Hey, that's great! He's already been introduced to a member of the gang. Is that how he found us, through you? Can't wait to see your new supercharged 8 at the track in Dec. Any bites on the NA car?

Nope he found that on his own. I won't be at RA in Dec...I'll be out of town that weekend.
Next NASA event at RA is around March? Schedule's not up yet. Hope you'll be instucting at that event?
No takers on the NA 8. I'm not really advertising it though. Right now I'm still just DDing it.
May part it out and sell if I need to get rid of it. I'm in no hurry

Looking to move to Georgia
Any advice on my topic would help but most importantly I'm looking into jobs for now. I am a mechanic by trade (not rotary unfortunately still just a noob) but most anything else.
The warm weather and cost of living is the big draw, however I have no idea about wages a mid-level mechanic in the eastern central part of the state takes home. I fear the low cost of living will play a part in this. We are looking into south of Savannah, Jesup area.
Is any body here a mechanic or have a friend that is a mechanic that is willing to indulge about what I can expect to be payed.
We plan to take a road trip down for Christmas vacation to look around and get a feel for things. It would be nice to have some info ahead of time though.
Thanks and sorry for being so random with a post not about cars or meets but this seems to be the best place to post this topic.

I can't help you with the type work you are looking for but I can tell you that living in the south is much better than New England when it comes to winter. :D
I'd check with Craigslist.com. That should give you a pretty good idea what to expect. Jobs are hard to come by but for some very strange reason, good workers are hard to come by as well. Seems a little ironic to me but that seems to be the case. Lots of shops and dealers to contact so I'd go ahead and get a jump on it before you move.
Jesup is Southwest of Savannah. I would think it would not be the best place in the world to get a job as the economy in smaller towns is quite depressed. Would be good if you have someone there to lean on for a while. Another reason to get a jump on the job hunt before you move. I may be wrong but I think GA in is like 10.3% (edited from 12%) unemployment and that's huge! Not trying to talk you out of it, just being real.
You may try to expand your job by looking into manufacturing as well. I think expanding the search may be advisable as there are companies growing in this area. At least for now. The manufacturing company I work for is having it's best year... ever! That's since 1969. So yea, look into some area in that direction as well as mechanic.
I also suggest, as I do all members that post in this thread, to join GARX8Club.com as it has more of a GA atmosphere there. Very active forum and not just online, we get together throughout the year. Mostly for track events but there are many that just chat online. We just had our 6th birthday a couple days ago. So come on over and see if you can get some good advice from the GA gang. Make sure you let me know here what username you choose over there so I can accept you. It's closed unless you make contact with one of the members to let us know you want to join. When I see your name on the list, I'll accept you so you jump right in.
Good luck in your search.

Thanks for the insight. I just looked up the unemployment rate of Connecticut and its at 8.9% so not too far from how GA's is.
I hear you on the small town economics theory that's pretty much the norm anywhere but it's the only environment I would want to live in. I live in a small town now and its about 20 miles for me to drive to work. I wouldn't be opposed to a bit of a commute for a good job. Urban living just isn't for me.
I'm not opposed to getting a job outside of the auto field its just all I have even done and the only thing I know how to do. Not to mention I plan to get an ASE certification this winter hopefully.
I have no real specific draw to Jesup other than there is a house for sale there that I love. Granted it will probably have sold by the time we are ready to move. Seems as good a place as any to start looking seeing as I have never been there. Also it seems to be within a half hour from the water and that is high up on the list. Now I live and work on long island sound and can't imagine not being close to the water.

Jesup is within 50 mi. of my hometown. I have not lived in that area since I graduated from High School in 1970 except to visit family and stay for the summer when in college. Not sure about Jesup but one thing to be aware of is gnats. They will drive you up the freaking wall. You will puff burst of air from the side of your mouth up over your eyes and fan them with your hand to try to get rid of them in the summer. Also misquotes can be a pain also. They can be rather large sometimes. So be careful, they may try to carry you back into the swamp! One of my friends explained it this way when referring to them at Road Atlanta: "Skeeters at RA in the summertime are big enough to stand flat footed and f*** a chicken".
Please don't think I'm trying to talk you out of moving to Jesup. Just arming you with a little info. I'm confident you will find many things that are positive about the area, like the proximity to the beach. Although, the water is dark, murky and full of jelly fish.
Please ignore me!
If olddragger gets in on this conversation, I'm sure he will add some more interesting tid-bits. Where are you OD?

hey I saw a dark colored RX-8 (not sure of color, was raining really hard) yesterday somewhere around Snellville/Lawrenceville with some kind of pink cat sticker on the rear drivers side window... sounded like it had an exhaust on it. Is that anybody on here?
