Greetings Friends and Fellow Mazda enthusiasts. Just arrived home from Orlando and can say without reservation, the ride down there was a lot more exciting than the ride back! As we snaked down I-95, then I-4 on our way to Orlando Saturday morning, it isn't hard to understand how the term "Zoom Zoom" is such an accurate depiction of the Mazda driving experience.

I had a remarkable time this weekend. I didn't meet a single person I didn't like. It isn't often a person gets to meet so many different personalities and enjoy the company of each, without exception. Lasting friendships are often forged of a common passion or interest and, in our case, will probably lead to many more gatherings to honor our cars and socialize with those who share our interests.

The cars looked fantastic and presented us all with some unique opportunities to take some extraordinary pictures, which I'm sure will be posted here and at mazdanow.com. THose wanting to share their pictures, email them to webmaster@mazdanow.com. I'll post as many as possible.

Special kudos go out to: DrivenBySpeed, strong bad, epitrochoid, Pinhy, guy321, BlueGrimRX8, Air Force RX8, evot23, Genom, ttrx7pete, Potent, Agent of Chaos, zsak, _joeKooL and EVERYONE who, by deed or words, help to make this meet so successful.

Extra Special Thanks goes to Mike (Air Force RX8) and his father-in-law, for sticking around and cleaning the place up. Going forward, we will ensure all participants realize that cleaning up is part of the event, as well as departing the event in a mature and civilized manner. We're all aware of the power these cars possess. Exhibitionism does not sustain that awareness, it only promotes ill feelings and places people's safety in jeopardy.

With that said, it was a Grand Event. Considering all the negative elements which enter our lives from time to time, it's a genuine pleasure to be a part of something so positive. I look forward seeing everyone again.

Randy

Well to ANYONE who left trash behind,... you are retarded.

Any meet that the Jax/G-ville crew has never leaves any trash. Some people no matter what car they drive are irresponsible. But sometimes in the confusion and rush and the unavailability of trashcans, some people make stupid choices.

I have 93 pictures and no where to host them.. so if anyone would like to host my pictures, they are most welcome to!

My girlfriend and I had a great time at the meet. We will be having another meet in late May in Jacksonville for anyone else who is interested to celebrate 2 years of BBQs for the Jax-Gville crew.

Maybe we 7 guys can school you 8 guys on how everything works and give you some turbo rotary rides.

I guess the only thing bad about the meet seemed to be some segregation between the 7s and 8s. Lets make sure to mingle a bit more next time

Pete,

I'll be intermittently working on posting pictures to the MazdaNow website today and tonight. Any you want posted, send em on over. (webmaster@mazdanow.com)

I didn't notice any of the segregation between the 7 and 8 guys. I was ratchet jawing with everyone. I think it's only natural to group together and compare mods, but then at the end, we consolidated and mixed it up pretty good. Had a great time...

Strong..send over any pics you want posted. If your avi or mpeg isn't too big, I'll post that as well. My daughter is just a quiet person. No worries there...she, like all of us, was really caught up in the whole thing. And she can talk to whoever she likes, no worries there either. Dating however, requires background checks, credit reports, school transcripts, and a few dozen forms and documents to fill out. Oh yeah...and the blood and lie detector tests.:D

I think the trash situation was just a learning experience. Next time we'll make arrangements to have a volunteer clean up crew and trash receptacles. Fortunately, Air Force RX8 covered our six. Thanks Mike.

Anyone wishing to drop Race Rock an email and thank them for the generosity for letting us use their facilities, their email address is:

restaurant@racerock.com

Keep checking www.mazdanow.com for updated pictures and information.

hey guys....sent a few of the meet pics to Chuck at Rotary Exreme and thanked him for the door prizes he donated. This is his reply:

"Doug:

Thanks for the photos. If the attendants end up buying some products from us, please ask them to refer to your website (mazdanow.com). If this thing works out for both of us, you can expect a larger sponsorship next time. Thank you.

Chuck Huang
http://www.rotaryextreme.com"

So you guys be sure to head over to their site and pic up a couple things. Mention the meet in Orlando.

The trash problem was unaccetable, but it would have been a good idea on Race Rock's part to put a trash can out there..I had to go all the way inside to toss my garbage

Great meet guys, very well organized up until after the picture. I had a great time meeting everyone. I really hope we can get another one organized in a couple months. I am going to look at the pictures now and I will be sending mine up to Raz to put on the website.

Thanks to all that coordinated this event. Being new, I didn't know what to expect. You're all too cool! It was great to meet so many of you.

I know that I had a great time and I'm sure my wife and kids had a better time at Disney without me. I would have been miserable if I'd had to miss this.

Lookin' forward to getting together in the future.

If we had paid them to use the facility, then I would expect them to arrange things like trash bins, but what it still boils down to is a total lack of maturity and respect. You showed that you have those qualities by taking a minute of your time to respect their facility by walking inside to dispose of your trash. I had no problem picking up and would do it again, but let's make sure to make it a point in the future to be more proactive in this area because it is unacceptable as you said.

I had a great time and Randy's daughter was all smiles when I saw her. When I introduced myself to Randy she was smiling away, happy to be a part of this event. I'll be sending some pics too as most of the ones I've seen so far were taken before I arrived at Race Rock.

Almost everybody in Race Rock thought that the group leaving like that was going to hurt somebody.

It is a shame to take a positive event and leave such negative impression behind.

Jeff
Huh, I don't remember seeing any "kids" in rx-7's. I also think its a bit much to be embarrassed to be part of a group because of a bad choice someone else made that you had no control over.

I was also disappointed to see that the trash situation was blamed on the rx-7 people, I highly doubt it was just the rx-7 owners. I'm not sure why someone would say that anyway and not just someone left trash lets try to be more aware next time. When the destination was announced it was kind of a rush to get to the cars and get going so we could drive in a group, so I doubt anyone left trash intentionally.

I heard some comments about the rx-8 and rx-7 people not mixing, but I didn't see that at all. I think everyone blended pretty well. I enjoyed the meet and can't wait for the next.

Thanks to all who took and posted pics, I forgot to bring my camera!

Well, obviously you think I am a liar, so I will take this a step further...

1. To the person who had the older looking 7 there that everyone gathered around while he was working on it...tell the girl that came with you she shouldn't have taken a 2/3 eaten muffin, the wrapper, and other misc trash out of a bag just to throw it on the ground under the tree and leave it.
2. To the 7 that was backed in amoung the 8s down toward the end of the row, your passenger also threw out a red bull can and soft drink bottle.
3. also on the end of the row on the 7 side there was a sports drink bottle dropped right in the middle of the parking lot where they were.

This is just the few that I actually saw throw trash out. 95% of the trash that I picked up was where the 7s were parked. If I said I saw it, you can believe I did. I have spent over 15 years in the Air Force and I wouldn't tarnish my integrity over someones childish behavior. I know what I saw with my own eyes and had my step-father right there with me...and that is the end of the story. The reason my post specifically called out the 7 owners is because that is where 95% of the blame rests, period. There were two drink bottles clearly left by the 8 bunch and I called that as I saw it as well. Before you ASSUME that I am trying to place blame where it doesn't belong re-read my original post where I clearly stated that I SAW them doing it. If it wasn't you, then great move on.

Well I know a RX8 from a RX7 and it was 2 older RX7's burning out of the parking lot like a couple of idiots. It was not me in Race Rock making the comments it was the people at Race Rock who were commenting on the behavior of those drivers. Maybe the term kids was not the best choice of words. This was my first RX8 meet. I am used to people acting like adults in public. Please do not bitch at me for pointing out how poorly someone acted in public. It reflects poorly on everyone that was there when only a couple of people screw up. They will remember us as a group!

guys, is bitching about this really going to make a difference? Thanks AF RX-8 for cleaning up, I understand there was a rush to leave, but I hadn't intended it to be that way. Once the destination was announced, I wasnt planning on leaving till everyone was in their car, but some people just couldnt wait. Anyway, it's been done.

I guess next time, we'll have to make it very clear what we expect of the attendees.
