day trip to the dragon
used a few days of vacation this week, so on one of them, i woke up early, and drove up to the dragon. ~6 hours round trip, and it was a hell of a lot of fun. its pretty much as straight shot from my house. 400 n to dalonhaga then n up 19/129. extemely easy to get too.
2nd time being on the dragon, 1st time driving on it. and i must admit, i think i'm addicted. hell of a lot of fun.
it was also my first long trip in the car, and first extended trip on my new tires (kuhmo ecsta spt). i must say, these tires kick the potenza's *** around the block in every category. incredibly smooth ride, better handling, and much quieter. when cruising at speeds above 45mph in 6th gear, i can actually hear my engine instead of road noise. its like i'm driving a completely different car. its also much easier to hear the buzzer. i love it
and despite ~30 miles of 7k rpm driving (11 miles up the dragon, 11 miles down, plus random mountain roads on the way up) i still managed 20.9 mpg on the trip. can't beat that
didn't get many pictures, as my batteries crapped out. i forgot charge the primary batteries before leaving and my backup disposable batteries sucked (i never leave home without at least one set of backup batteries. guess i should have brought more ). i was only able to get a few pictures. but here they are. as you can see, from the pics, the weather was perfect

The Deals Gap Rotary Rally 2006 is now in the planning stages and it is set for April 7-8-9, 2006. It will be based at Fontana Village with arrivals on Friday night Saturday morning and most of driving done on Saturday and Sunday morning. All rotary owners are invite to attend. It as primarily an RX7 event in its first year, 2005 but is open to all rotary powered wonders this year.
Sharing the best sports car road in America with other rotary owners, what can be better, OK having the Tail of the Dragon all to yourself in an RX7 or RX8. . .
