Talking CMP May 31-Jun 1, 08 - New Track Layout

This may be the last straw to get me back on track. I just received this email from James Ray. Check out the "Open Track Day for $100". This is TOO HARD TO RESIST and James puts on a great event for the Mustang Club. NEW TRACK LAYOUT.... WhoooHooo!

==================================

Fellow Driving Enthusiast,

As usual, The Carolina Regional Mustang Club will hold it's 2008 Performance Driving School at Carolina Motorsports Park in Kershaw, SC on May31-June 1, 2008. And, as usual, the best bang-for-the-buck Open Track Day in the entire world for advanced drivers and Instructors is on May 30, 2008. ($100.00)

But what you might not know or expect is the changes that are taking place at CMP. Below I have pasted a portion of an e-mail that discusses several changes, among them, track design!

So before you read on, mark your calendars for May 30 thru June 1, 2008 to join CRMC at CMP!!

Here is the info.

1) These changes are schedule to begin the first of Dec so they will be ready by Feb (all weather dependent). Leave turns 12 and 13 as they are. However we will put in an alternate configuration for these corners. This configuration will go straight beyond turn 12 (not very far) into basically an increasing radius sweeper that crosses the track prior to turn 13 and blends back into the track on the straight between turn 13 and 14. Turn 14 were are basically going to soften by increasing the radius of the corner ... probably 5 - 6 mph faster. In the future (2 - 3 years) we have another 50 acres behind turn 8 to put another 3/4 mile of entertaining track extension.

2) Currently you can use the upper level of the control tower as a classroom. It will comfortable accommodate 25 students. The trailer will still be available as a second classroom until we finish the dedicated classroom. We will have a dedicated classroom. We are currently looking at having the classroom (dividable into 2) on the first floor of the driver's lounge. This will be in the first part of the year.

3) The first set of day garages will begin in the Dec - Feb time frame. There will be approximately 20 garages (in the process of getting bids and finalizing the plans). They will be located between the tower (old tech shed) and the bathrooms. These will be available for rent by the day. Additional day garages will be built based on the demand of the first garages. Permanent garages are in the 5 year plan ... exactly when I am not sure. There has been strong interest so far so we may do a waiting list and then once we reach a certain number build them.

Excellent. and Excellent. I had heard CMP was gonna go thru some changes. New owners I believe. I like turns 12 and 13, but was not a fan of 14.
Sounds like fun - guess we need to start up next years calender!
