It was 28 for the drivers meeting in Kershaw at CMP and I can assure you that it is freaking COLD! Glad I'm not in the first run group. I don't go out until after 10:00.

Cars are all inspected then we headed up to the chateau for a little fun, food and freezing! DAMN it is cold out! Phlash played chef and cooked up some great vittles on his super duper small bus sized grill. I think we all froze our asses off. I took off to come home for the night and left the gang to play. Sure enough when I called back, they were in L8's car headed to the alleged high RPM circular driving facility. I'm sure we will hear a few stories from that venture. Did I mention it's freaking cold! Asmoran and TorqueAholic will show up tomorrow AM and hopefully we will have a small contingency of GA RX-8 Clubbers show up for the fun.
OD has his Petit La Chateau set up with his sleeping gear and beans were served for Phlash's Chateau dwellers to fart and giggle all night. Sorry I will miss that!
Long Johns are in order for the drivers and anyone that plans to be out their early.

First I want to say thanks to Phlash for his extraordinary effort to bring his small residence to the track and cook great food. I'm sure it will be remembered by many people, especially the track workers. Hazel will be talking about it for years I'm sure.
NASA, you keep getting better every year. The classroom instruction was WAY better and I really enjoyed the instructor. Nice change of pace.
Asmoran, you were doing a great job out there. Enjoyed watching you from the classroom. A couple times when you had clear track you were coming down turn 12 real well and nailed the apex. Also enjoyed watching you in turn 5 (pics to come). That car's got a lot of roll... we’ve got to do something about that, although it does make you look like your hauling ***. Also, I want to thank you for taking care of my MAF and getting my intake back on when I had to split and go to class. I was afraid I was going to miss my last session... I come out to my car and she's all put together. It was like a Christmas present.

Levent, I really appreciate you giving Kevin a ride in your 7. He had a blast and from what I understand, you did too coming out of T12 and into T1. I hate you had a problem today with it and hope you get her fixed soon and back on track. We need to do that abrupt scare scream for OD next time he sleeps in the Patit La Chateau. That was really funny last night when you were talking about it.
Mooddude, Jeezzzz, what can I say? I'm really sorry about the engine. Sounded like you handled it on track really well but getting off real quick and keeping the workers from having to come out and stop the session. Hope you get her together soon. I'm sure she will be even better than she was before she let loose.
Val, I don't understand how you could stand the cold last night with as little as you had on. I was cold just looking at you. I know you took a good many pics. Can't wait to see them.
Dano, it was nice to finally meet you. Enjoy the green filter and report back on how it does for ya. Hope to see you out with us again. Are you going to be trading for a 6 speed soon or will you wait a while?
MSTYLES, nice to see you again. That Hummer is a piece of work my friend. Amazing customizing job. I’ve never heard that kind of sound and the attention to detail in the suede was beautiful. The RX-8’s interior was real departure from any I’ve ever seen. Sorry I didn’t get any pics. We need to get back together and have another photo session.
Jody, I couldn't look at you without laughing all weekend. Everytime I saw you, all I could think about was your pic from the NASA forum. Thanks for the info on T1.
Travis had quite a time yet again at the alleged high RPM circular driving facility. I really wish I had been there to see that. I think ya'll wait for me to leave then you make a beeline it for the circle jerk. I'm looking forward to you getting back out on the track with us.
Olddragger, you are a blessing to have around. If I have a mechanical issue, you know just what to do and how to take care of it. Thanks for helping me with my REVI intake repair and the MAF cleaning. I will get some electrical cleaner and blast it profusely as you suggested. I can really tell the difference already. Those were some great brownies.
TrackAddict... I don't have anything for you... sorry!
JK... I could not have asked for a better instructor. I've already given you my review so there's no need to spill my gut's to the world about how much I really appreciate you and your driving talents. I'm a much better driver because of you. Thanks again and I hope that I can get you to ride with me when I have my first session in HPDE3 next event. I'm confident and ready to go. I have to admit that rocking out to the FM raido one minute prior to pit out was a little different way of mentally preparing yourself for driving at high speeds than I expected. Your humor on the track is great and anyone that has the privilege of being your student will be better for it. Just make sure when you tell them you saw a point-by that you can cover your *** on it when you get back in.
As far as the track goes, I think for the RX-8 it is not an issue with any of the imperfections in the asphalt. Probably the one that most effected me was coming out of turn 5 but if just didn't bother me enough to change my line. Where some other cars seemed to be staying off the inside of 4, it didn't bother me. The track was fast and when the car would move out a little, it was no problem to correct with slight turn of the wheel and excelleration. I really love this track and can't wait for the next event here.

Weekend Recap
First and foremost, a big thank you to all my friends who participated and/or showed up for this event. It is the people that make a track weekend awesome and I got a chance to hang out with my best friends. That is priceless.
The weekend was great but also had some low points. The lows were Mooddude's unfortunate engine troubles. He is truly a class act though as he took it in stride and kept a smile and winning attitude. I learned a lesson in great sportsmanship. Lego's diff troubles with his RX7 also curbed his track time on Sunday in the left seat but he also smiled and fulfilled his responsibilities to his students. Lastly it was f-ing cold.
Phlash - a great host, chef, race controller. thanks for towing the chateau and giving me a place to snore. I only woke myself up 3 or 4 times the whole weekend.
L8APEX - thanks for working the event and making it a safer place. Also thanks for the alleged activities on some fictitious skid pad and autocross course. If you actually did find those places, you allegedly displayed excellent skills.
OD - always willing to help people out. I enjoyed riding with you and experiencing the 17" wheel advantage. Next time you will have more company in HPDE3.
Lego - you got to experience a dual student weekend. It is pretty busy but very gratifying no? I can't wait to see your RX7 with the new rear end on it with disc brakes.
Mooddude - your car is awesome and only temporarily siddelined. You have ccome a long way since I rode with you at the Time Attack last year. All that seat time has translated into a vastly superior driver.
TorqueAholic - it was awesome doing that lead follow on Saturday. I am glad I was able to keep up (but barely).
Silver - I was honored that you requested me as your instructor. I really think we improved your skills over the course of the weeeknd and if you drive like you did in session 2 on Sunday, you will be fine in HPDE3. I will ride with you your first time out so you get comfy with the passing anywhere thing. BTW - you did a pointby maybe except for once. We were almost side by side on a few and you were looking ahead not at the car you were passing.
Asmoran - you are officially defrocked. Awesome job this weeekend. You were a quick learner and easy to teach. We had fun!! Lets do it again huh?
I hope I didnt leave anyone out...

Everyone - don't feel sorry for me - it just gives me something to do now to the car and it will be like the Six Million Dollar man "We can build it - faster - stronger - better". My goal will first to be reliable, up the Rev Limiter to 7500 rpm, and add about 100 more horses at the rear tires (for a total 550 rwhp ).
Lego - thanks for driving down with me on Sunday. I think that Saturday afternoon was the most fun I have ever had on track with you in my car. Even when we lost boost we where still passing people!
TA - It was fun riding with you also, but sorry we had to cut our session short. Thank god it didn't blow coming into turn 12! It was always good to see you. I will give you a ride when I get her back together.
Plash - thanks for driving down with me from TN and the great food. Your driving skills really showed when you had to deal with all that wind on I-75.
L8apex - that was so much fun on the skid pad and autoX coarse. I almost fell down when I got out of the car to look for the spinkler controls.
TA2 - You look like you where having so much fun riding around in the Z. Watching you guys go by and all I could see was your white teeth!
Silver - what are you waiting for - you needed to be in 3. You would have been a much better driver than ever single Vette that was in our group!!!! Next time fly solo with OD and I.
OD - Good seeing you again. And you are the only one in group 3 that I didn't pass the whole weekend!
Asmoran - glad to meet you, and I know you will now be one of the safest drivers on the street. Share your experience with others who are afraid to go to track. I know you will get the bug to come back - probably sooner than you think.
Now it is time for me to make my plans on the build. It will probably take a few months, but if I don't have her ready by Roebling - I may just come to hang out with you guys (and maybe catch a few rides).

Wheew.. what a weekend!
It started with flyin' in on the thursday nite red-eye out of 'Vegas and getting home at 7:00 am. Thankfully I was able to catch some sleep on friday morning and my wife talked me into staying home on friday nite for time with the family and a decent nite sleep.
Having 2 students really keeps your dance card full. It was really fun to be on the track that much. I loved the surface and it was cool to sample my car's new attributes at RA. Saturday was a pretty steep re-learning of the track with the new car setup / new surface and Sunday I felt I was getting my groove back on.
Too bad, no videos boys and girls so I don't have confirmation of times or entertaining footage for y'all. The one session I tried capture on video the tape got mangled and I got nothing beyond sitting on the grid.. Too bad, I had a pretty good run chasing a guy in a monster flat nose 80's trans-am style Porsche 935 turbo.
My student's Z car was A M A Z I N G. Picture a gutted, partial tube-frame, full-race, 383 cu'in Ford V8 powered (560 RWHP and about the same in torque), 2400 lbs late 70's 260 Z and that was my DE2 student ride.
That car had the goods to TOTALY satisfy a speed hungry torque aholic like yours truly. What was amazing is that it seemed to corner and brake as well as it accelerated.
My student Kenny did a great job of taming the monster and I think I helped him gain confidence and speed behind the wheel. To his credit, he did not scare me once the whole weekend, even with 2 quasi spins and a light brush on the inside wall comming out of 6.
My other student was in a stock 01 Mustang just like mine so it was fairly easy to "drive" from the right seat. He also did well and I signed him off from DE 1 to DE 2.
TA, we will have to more sessions like the one on Saturday, the wireless communicators made things really fun and the "real time" feedback was definitely beneficial.
Phlash, thanks again for your hospitality you are definitely the hostess with the mostest.
Mood, sorry about the mechanical contre-temps and I am certain it will be better, badder, faster, and tougher on the next go 'round.
Lego, sorry about your's too. You did a great job taking it in stride and I am also convinced the car (and you) will benefit from a new, fresh LSD rear-end. (Who doesn't love a nice, fresh, and tight rear-end anyways??)
Silver, you will love DE 3. It's a lot of fun and traffic is (Mostly) more entertainment than aggravation with the 3 boys
L8, you can definitely drive.. Once we can get that through your thick head I think you will be quick around the track.
The rest of the RX8 club thanks again for making feel at home even if my car does a few pistons and cubic inches..
I wish I would have spent more time with you guys but I was simply booked with the students, helping out my fellow Mustang buddies, and helping Jim trying to fix his ailing Miata.
I have to say the the 4:15 am alarm this morning was a bit rough but now I back in 'Vegas, fully cafeinated, and mostly looking like a am getting stuff done.
My head is gonna hit the pillow hard tonight.

Man, I didn't realize you were the Z's instructor. Wish I had know, I would have lined up behind you guys to see how things were going. I don't remember ever seeing you guys on track but one time and that was as I was after the red flag and I believe he was in turn 4. He did mention his instructor in class and I remember it being very positive however I can't recall exactly what he said. He seemed to be a humble driver that respected his car's power from what I could tell in class.
The video of my last session was trashed as well. while lined up, my camera could not focus because of the white wall and when we went track out, my video camera never came into focus the entire session and I was very disapointed. I had a great time on my solo session and wanted to remember it with a video. We will have to figure out how to take care of this problem. If it happened to you and me, I'm sure it happened to someone else.
