Zaino - 8 Hours between coats?

I was talking to someone locally who sells Zaino products, and he was telling me you need to let the polish settle 8 hours before applying the second coat if your not using the ZFX Flash Cure Accelerator Additive with your Zaino polish. If so - you can apply coats every 30 minutes.

Anyone here know more about this?

hey H, i remember reading something like that somewhere, maybe on their website.

...something similar to adding a couple extra drops of the catalyst to a thermoset resin, like Bondo... will work w/o it(w/o the extra that is), but extra drop or two speed things up quite a bit, least thats how i understood the ZFX, i dunno?

And who you talkin to local? one of the 2 Zaino "authorized" guys or just somewho who can get it sent here?

just curious as we cant ship it here from Zaino, and from what i hear, only 2 guys, and pakshak.com are authorrized by zaino to resell for them?

f*ck it though, long as its Zaino, who cares how they get it right?

The way I understand it - and have always done it - You can put up to THREE coats on in one session (or day) then you must wait 24 hours before applying any more coats. I apply it, wait 25-30 minutes (or perhaps a bit longer) for it to 'cure' wipe off, wipe with Z6 spray, apply 2nd coat, wait 25-30 mins or so, wipe off, wipe with Z6 spray, apply the third and LAST coat for that day, wipe off and then use either Z6 spray or Z8. If I want to (and I always do) add more coats, I wait at LEAST 24 hours before I add another 3 coats. I have been doing it that way for years, and have not had any issues.

where did you get the ifno for the 3 coats in 24 hours?

I always did a coat of Z2, wait 30min, wipe it off
then Z5, wait 30min, then wipe it off

But now im thinking that might not of been right without hte Accelerator

Paul, it was some guy selling it out of his garage. I got his info off of the Zainostore website. I guess he's authorized because the Zaino people emaled me to get in contact with him.

Note: Apply no more than three coats of Zaino Show Car Polish enabled with ZFX™ in a 24 hour period. For optimum results, use your ZFX™ enabled polish within 6 hours of mixing.

if you want to get a better shine, use Z6 or Z8 in between each coat and then finish with Z8. Z8 is amazing, expensive but well worth the money!

He probably meant what 6speed8 is talking about...but you wouldn't need more than 3 coats within 36 hours anyway. More like 3 months.

It depends on temp and humidity. It could be 5 minutes in the Florida sun, 30 minutes in the Florida garage or even 5 hours in the Maine garage. It all depends. The ZFX does speed things along. It also supposedly helps the polish bond to the paint. I'd buy it if I were you..... oh wait.... I did. lol
