Warning:Windshield wipers & open hood
Warning: Do not open hood with Winshield wipers up!!
After owning the 8 for over a month I felt like washing it. ( I live in So Cal and those ashes took their toll.) Had the wipers up and felt like, hey let's wipe the water off of the engine compartment.
I lifted and wack!! Now I have put two very nice beauty marks on the back edge of my hood. A mental mistake on my part and a warning to all others.
BTW, what's the best way to get it back in shape? These are the first dings on this awesome pice of machine.

I did the exact same thing last time I washed... sucks. Now I have a pretty noticeable chip on the hood edge. The worst part is that it stares me in the face everytime I drive
I guess I'll be trying out the free touch-up paint soon.

I feel for your pain.
I made the same mistake when I bought my P5. The edge is very difficult to touch up. I finally gave up after hours of touching up and sanding.

I did the same thing - and didn't know it really chipped the paint until I went to drive it......and as you said, it stares you in the face. I came home tonight and ordered the touch-up paint and the lanka.com products. Tomorrow I am going to have 'stupid' tattooed to my forehead.
