If you have the sap on your windows use a brand new razor blade. As long as it's new it won't scratch the window and should get the sap off quite nicely.

As for getting it sap off the paint, DON'T use a razor blade for fear of scratching the coat. Use liquid dawn. If that doesn't work take it to a detailer and have then do it.

Try this stuff. Should be able to find it at some auto shops like NAPA. Or you can order it at the link. Although most of what they sell goes for a premuim.

If you use the razor blade on the windows, make sure you spray the window with some sort of cleaner like windex. You need the lube to help keep from scratching. Even a new razor blade can scratch a window.

Oops.. exactly right NavyDood.. that's what I get for posting that response at 3am.... Though I would use Simple Green, it'll help loosen up dried sap better than Windex.

I use 3M™ General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner – You can get it at Napa Auto and it wont hurt the clear coat. I have used it for removing tar, glue, bugs, and stickers. Good stuff.

You can laugh if you want, but I lived in the mountains for a couple of years, and by far the best thing for removing sap is baby wipes!

I don't know what they put in it to clean a kids ****, but apparently it will remove just about everythiing... includint sap (from trees) and tar from the beach.

Try it... I am not joking.

why hasn't anyone mentioned the safest and easiest method to getting sap off (I do it all the time since I have 6 trees in my front yard:

CLAYBAR!!!!!

don't mess around with chemicals that will most likely do damage to the clearcoat/paint

plus claybarring works on windows too...dont mess around with a razor blade...you can scratch the window but more likely you'll damage the coating on the window

to learn how just search around the forum it is everywhere (I got the Meguiars claybar with quick detailer package from kmart I believe...works like a charm but there are many more brands out there)

If your careful with a razor blade you will not do any damage. And why would you want to contaminate a clay bar removing sap? If it a sap that dries hard and it were to chip/break as you were trying to remove it, it will embed itself in the clay and cause possible scratches.

I had to remove sap spots from my car this past weekend. I used the clay bar and just pulled out the sap chunks as i went along. No scratches but it took like a hour just to get all the spots off of the hood. I could not get the spost off my clear bra with the clay bar though because the bas keeps sticking to the clear bra no matter how much lube i put on it : ( My car is now sap free and looks great with just clay bar but i still have to go back and get the spots off the clear bra.
