hmm, i got mine today, i can't say im blown away. Is there a trick to this stuff? I shook it, put it on a rag (terry cloth) and put it on the tip and buffed it off with a clean terry cloth. There is still a lot of "gold" left on my greddy tips. What am i doing wrong?

Check the instructions... it's not just put on and buff off. You actually have to work the polish in (not just put it on). It takes several applications.

I could be wrong, but I believe the instructions say to work on the polish using circular motions to break up the oxidation, and then buff out with a clean cloth. Do not turn the rag/cloth while working the polish in. I typically work it in for like at least a minute. When you buff out, also give it a good buffing.

Try concentrating on one spot, give it about 3-4 passes. At some point, you'll see the polish "breaking past" the golding. You should definitely see a difference.

Nicely put Astral.

This polish has done the best on my Greddy SP2 tips but it does take more work because of the grain on them.

I think it also mentions to go with the grain if possible. On mine the grain seems to go horizontally.

Astral, i just got a bottle with minimal instructions, shake well, put on, buff off.

Your instructions are great, i'll give them a shot tonight.

I have the Racing Beat exhaust and I leave my shrouds on. However..........mine were clean to begin with so I didn't have to do any serious buffing. Don't get it on the shrouds as you may be sorry. Astral is right.....go with the grain if possible and you are supposed to wear gloves and a mask(of course I never do). Don't let it sit on your skin forever, and it may also take a few times to really see the difference. Work it in as he described.

Dave

Before:

After:

Since the sp2 was originally from the eastcoast, it was covered in rust and oxidation.

Gotta love Custom English Polish

No, don't use Mother's Powerball. This is what one of the guys from ECP said about it:

The Mothers powerball is foam isn't it?
No professional polisher would ever use such a thing.
The speeds vary from smaller to bigger diameters and foam is so inconsistant
it can scratch like hell, harbor grit and filings, and generally make a
mess.
I'm not sure what can be used instead, but do e-mail ECP (maybe with a photo) and ask what they suggest.

I was able to break up quite a bit of buildup, but if the carbon is really bad, it takes a lot of elbow grease.

I say it doesn't hurt to try, you should get the polish and get to town. If you do have to go to something heavier in the end, you will have the ECP Hot Chrome polish to maintain the finish once it's corrected.

to apply ECP Hot Chrome, you use a cloth or applicator and polish out with a nice soft cloth. don't use sandpaper.

I would be worried about scratching the finish off! Dunno, e-mail ECP and ask. They are the professionals.

Hello all, I started this thread about 3-1/2 years ago and thought I would give an update. My bottle of English Chrome polish dried up over this past winter. It was always stored in my garage and lasted close to 3 years. My tips are absolutely still looking like brand new and I don't think this product can be beat. I checked the web site and it looks like they have redesigned the bottle. Cost is still $16 so I will placing an order soon.

It looks like the same bottle design just a different label. I ordered mine shortly after your post 3.5 years ago.
