the osg fluid solved the issue with the inside wheel spin, which i was getting when i was using redline fluid. i'm using progress front sway bar and stock rear sway bar.

I kept it to myself in the other thread, but imo the OSG is the better LSD choice for an RX8. The way it functions is about the opposite of the others in terms of when & how it locks or not. That said, wrt any LSD; the overall setup is highly dependent on the situation, but the 1.5x OSG has worked extremely well for me.

More u learn from lsd, it seen more complicated then it list
Specially on Rx8 with such low TQ I found out
Most of off shelf lsd locking too great
I found out this on my Cusco Rs 1 way
Even is low Intial TQ, but ramp angle is pretty big for Rx8

Did they run you on the dyno there?

Seems like it must of been cool air temperature based on how crisp and responsive the engine was. The Renesis loves cool intake air ...

no dyno there this past weekend. they try to bring dyno to every event but some event dyno are not available. the regional tt5/st5 group are close friends. we all share data with each other after every event. if anything looks fishy it will show up on data. also if competitor want to see what tune we are running, we just show them, nothing to hide.

generally, track record are set in early spring or late fall when the temp is coldest. makes more power and better grip for the tires. the previous record was set by my friend in an s2k two years ago. i broke the record by .6 seconds.

congrats, and that was all I was intending; the engine will output higher on cool intake air than hot, which a Renesis will deviate a bit more than most in that regard i.m.e. ...

dynos at the track are SAE corrected and should account for temp, altitude and humidity. but i get what you mean that air temp affect rene more than other engines. i compete in multiple regions and they use different dyno, I see a larger variance between different dyno than air temp.

of that I have no doubt, but you understand it’s only a relative (virtual) comparison to a standardized climate condition right?

the engine is in fact running stronger under those actual conditions of that particular day (all the other engines should be too) and it was evident to me compared to your other previous vids in hotter weather.

was absolutely not implying anything nefarious or otherwise, only that I know from first-hand experience and recognized it

I have a on-car vid from an autox event in my car from 8 or 9 years ago in early spring weather and it was a similar deal with the engine singing like crazy and a great end result, but no longer have an account to host & post it as a similar comparison. Some of the highest MAF values I’ve ever logged.

looks like a fun track. funny to see that most west coast tracks are in the middle of desert with nothing to hit. east coast tracks are all walls and trees.

figured I’d just throw this in here; Dan Wheldon driving a Pro Formula Mazda at Indy on the road race course about 6 months after he won the Indy 500 in 2011. Not really pushing it, but still nice to hear a well built and tuned Renesis really sing ... and ride the rev limiter forever down the front straight.

May he forever RIP ...

"Star Mazda" builds the complete car and the teams merely buy it and parts from them. This puts all the cars on the same page to help showcase the drivers skills. The engines were sealed from Star Mazda with tamper proof caps, if these caps were broken then the team was disqualified. All tear down, inspections, assembly and dyno break-in was done at their shop located outside of Los Angles California.

"In 2004, a completely new car was introduced for the Pro series. It features a carbon fiber chassis, 6 speed sequential gearbox, and a sealed 250 hp fuel-injected Renesis engine very similar to the one in the Mazda RX-8. The MoTeC ECU uses input from the gearshift to enable upshifting while the driver holds the throttle wide open. The ECU also provides traction control which the driver can turn off from inside the car. The rules allow a choice among five different spring rates at each corner, and the new Öhlins dampers offer separate bump and rebound adjustments. The driver can adjust the front anti-roll bar from the cockpit."

They can be picked up used for fairly cheap in my opinion ~$32k: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...formula-mazda/

Wow that is cheap imo. I was excited for this series when it debuted and sad when it officially concluded. I think there should be a 'Star Mazda Love' thread because these things are awesome.

Thanks for sharing guys!

the engines were built by Daryl Drummond until 2013, then Speedsource for the last several years before it changed to the Indy 2000 series

I did my first SCCA time trials event this weekend, I was running Tuner 4. Here's my fastest lap, unfortunately no audio as GoPro's mic adapter needs to be reconnected every time you power cycle the camera and I forgot.
