some laps around Summit Point Main. NASA TT5 trim. Got first place with 11 people in class. Very close competition between the top 3 places.

had two really fun races this past weekend at PittRace with NASA. on race 1, i passed the leader on the last lap to take the win. on race 2, i finished 2nd but the winner was DQ after the race for coming in 15 lbs under weight.

yeah not sure, seems to be getting some wheel spin here and there, not but always at the same corner. it's an of the shelf unit, i didn't send it out to get tuned for the car. my front sway bar is probably a bit too soft also. i'll have put it to stiff setting.

I only recommend that oil on the OSG even though they have approved some lesser weight oils now. It definitely should not have a modifier added.

i swap to the os250r fluid for the last event, wow what a difference. don't hear anymore wheel spin.

here'e a lap at Watkins Glen. was able to win TT5 class both saturday and sunday. this vid is from saturday, sunday vid was faster lap but lost the aim signal, so no telemetry on vid. also the rpm signal on the video is a math channel, not actual rpm. the actual rpm signal is about 4 times higher. i'm still adjusting the formula to get the correct rpm number. my rev limit is 9500 rpm.

nice driving, looking good and congrats on the win.

That rev limit is not good for engine life though (not that I haven’t rung it out well past there in the past, lol). Are you running out of gearing? I was expecting you to shift up on the straight.

i mentioned in my post that the RPM in the vid is not correct since the signal from the Aim is a calculated channel and i was still trying to find the correct formula. my true rev limit is 9500 which i think i only hit once in that vid.

on saturday (from the vid), i was staying in 5th on the back straight, you can see i was contemplating on shifting to 6th a couple times. the reason why i didnt shift is because i want to be in 4th coming out of the bus stop. if i go into 6th, i would have to make two gear change during the braking, and i can't down shift smoothly from 6th to 4th because that's not something i do often, and it's a very short braking period. there was a couple runs that i did shift to 6th. the data showed that i didn't really lose or gain any times shifting to 6th, other than to keep the rpm down. on sunday, i decided to shift to 6th on all my runs, and then down to 5th through the bus stop. didnt really gain or lose time there either.

ok, it will just take it’s toll on the side seals and eventually decrease engine performance; coupled with power dropping more and more after 8500 rpm, is why I mention it.

Aren’t you on the S2 trans? The S2 6th gear may be too tall is why. I was thinking there might be an optional gear if that’s allowed. I know for sure there are several for the S1, not sure on the S2.

im on S1 tranny and 5.1 FD. slight dip in acceleration shifting to 6th. and the acceleration in 5th vs 6th for that stretch of the track look the same. only difference is lower rpm 6th. that part of the track is still uphill and probably hit the aero drag wall with the power.

we're allowed to swap tranny but not allowed to change gear ratio inside the tranny.

what would be the drawback of hitting rev limit too often or riding the rev limit.

engine compression becoming weaker over time

you probably won’t want the S2 trans gearing imo, I did an analysis on that a few years back. Unless it’s a slower track that needs a steeper 3rd gear where the S1 4th gear is out of the power band a lot then the S1 gearing is better imo. The S2 6th gear is a lot steeper too.

I thought Versatune map only go to 9000rpm?
With 5.3 on S2 Transmission, I have some weird spot that my original 9300 rev cut is not enought, but since versatune map only go to 9000 I in debate should I go pass 9500 or not

About 800 miles on the new engine, decided to do a track day. It rained a bunch.

there isn't much changed in fuel or ignition timing from 9000 to 9500, so it will just use values from 9k on any higher rpm.

you shouldn’t be going there in the first place unless you’re willing to sacrifice performance/engine life in short order. Because that’s exactly what will happen.

It’s not a peripheral port intake and I’m fairly confident you don’t have Iannetti apex seals. No need to be going past 8500 even. All it’s doing is pushing EGT through the roof and cooking the life out of side seals.

in my situation, i'm not pushing to 9500 to make power, i'm actually detuned from 7500 onward to cut top end power for the class. i generally shift bellow 9k, but there are occasions where i don't want to shift to 6th or dont want to up shift for a split second then have to downshift again, i just ride it out to redline.

but yeah for a DE car, there's really no need to go past 9k.

it’d be recommended to not be revving past 8000 then, but it’s your engine.

Looks like he's closer to you each time you pass the finish line. Very courteous of you to wait for him for 3 laps
