What is your setup??

springs...struts....front sway bar...both sways... braces.....etc...
Curious what you track guys are running and happy with... especially you guys that have tried a few setups....

 

The answer is "it depends". It depends on you, Is this your first time on a track? When you say track do you mean road course, autocross, drag strip? If its your first time on a road course you are not going to burn the track up and set records. If you have done it before and progressed in your driving skills and knowledge of the track thats a whole different setup.

It depends on the car, each part or need for upgrade is partly dependent on what other parts you have or will put on the car. All other things being equal you may need better brakes if you put R-compounds on your car. Or you may find that with better brakes you may want to put R-compounds on your car. Same with suspension.

Drag strip needs are entirely different from autocross which is not the same as a road course. And each road course is different, some are brake intensive others are not. Some empahsize straght speeds others cornering.

For me after my first session on a high speed brake intensive road course I went with dedicated track pads, sway bars, and R-compounds. Spend more time behind the wheel and less time underneath the car, thats my advice.

 

The first thing I got is the RB sway bars, it reduce the lean, after that the shocks and springs, I got Koni with Mazdaspeed springs, but I want stiffer springs, so I change it to Progressive springs, it have 420lb front and 280lb rear. Because of the progressive spring rate, it dosen't feel as harsh as the linear springs, it lower 0.8 front and 0.5 rear, it just give you that sleeper looks and no ticket for car too low. It is very comfortable to drive around the street, I have not yet gone down to the track, hope I could get some track time next month or so.

I have upgraded brakes, r tires, and H&R springs.
Posting to get some input on different spring and strut experiences and different sway bar setups. Just front bar, rear, mx5 etc.....

Get a good set of coilover's, only H&R springs on stock dampers is worse then stock.

 

Setup seems ok to me. Coilovers would be great but out of my current price range!

 

you may want to get some shocks next, tokico work great with H&R, and they are adjustable from the trunk. I will also get a set of progressive sway bars, they are also adjustable. That way you could adjust at the track.

 

When I bought my car it was running on H&R ID Race springs and stock dampers, the best thing I have done is to switch out the H&R Springs.
